I'm hotly debating investing in the $500 OBD cable and a two day FDRS license to force my truck to update. Went down a two-day rabbit hole this past weekend researching the process, and I think I'm ready to take it on.

Checking the threads on here a lot of people got BC 1.4 before 2025. Is anyone else like me w/o? I went to Louisville for the new year hoping to get the update. Still
I got tired of waiting and trying to figure it out so I scheduled a service appointment and they upgraded the module that was recalled and then did the 1.4 update. It takes five hours. Maybe it's placebo but I feel like the blue Cruise works much much better now.

No zigzag between lanes, longer delay between yelling at you, etc

Did they charge you separately to update the modules?

I am still waiting. Although I have a 22 Lightning. I may be waiting a bit longer.
My 21 Job1 Mach E had the 1.4 Beta version until they installed the non beta version. I have reservations about the change. Does not perform as well as the beta version in the MME.

I updated both the 22 and 23 lariat before thanksgiving with FDRS and they both have BC 1.4 now as well as the google ev routing. So the files are out there on the servers just not OTA pushed to all yet.

I just did this. With a proper power supply (I used a 75a powermax unit), it went smoothly. Some recent reports of FDRS updates breaking BC entirely…recommendation is to hold off on an IPMA update for the time being.

I read about that this morning. Good to know. Would you consider that being one of the 'bleeding edge' updates that perhaps got released too soon by Ford? Or has it been released/available for a long time?

I’m not an expert by any means. It sounds like the cause of the issue is unknown and the fix is yet to be determined. It only seems to affect FDRS users rather than OTA, so perhaps there is a method to the OTA lottery.

I am totally fine with the staged rollouts. Stability is more important to me when it comes to a car, truck, or motorcycle. I don't want to be a Beta tester -- I want everything to just work.

I don't think that the Tesla model of constantly breaking/updating things is a good one for something used for transportation. Cars shouldn't be in Beta.
You’re not wrong, but there are updates that have been out in the field for over a year that are proven stable but haven’t been pushed to all vehicles. Ford’s process is broken.
