Does that built in Nav "pre-condition" or "condition" the battery temp while traveling?
Yep, it’ll precondition the battery if you route to a charger or if it adds a charger stop to your route.

Android is next to do this. soon. I have always been Android user for my phones.
Same here. I’m really hopeful it comes to waze soon.

I am glad this thread raised awareness folks had this option and helped folks set it up!

It was both a Ford OTA update and an IOS update that allowed this.
Correct, I was waiting for this to become available on my truck. Once I got 6.2.0 last week I was able to get Apple Maps to use my Lightning, I was already on latest version of iOS but nothing until 6.2.0 installed!

Am I suppose to see Tesla chargers on CarPlay at this point? I added “Tesla Supercharger” as a network and ran a bunch of sample CarPlay routes and Tesla never ends up selected, which I would expect to happen as they’re plentiful in California.

One problem I have with the Apple Maps routing, and maybe it’s just a setting I can’t find. When your EV is set as your vehicle, the turn-by-turn Nav no longer shows the remaining trip distance, it’s replaced with your estimated SOC at your destination. I’ve looked around and can’t find a setting to change this. My only option is to change it to “Different Car” in maps to know how far I’ve left to drive. Is this the same for others?

I believe that's not available yet unfortunately. The plug types in the maps app still only show ccs1 and j1772 for the lightning.

I played around a bit today and you are right. All you get is SoC and arrival times. If you use your phone you can see step by step distances, but one should never look at their phone while driving. You also cannot really see/edit the destination list once you start the route. Hoping Apple works on that in the future. For long multi DC fast charging trips the Ford Nav is the way to go.

I just took my first long trip in the Lightning from Denver to Santa Fe Saturday. Went perfectly with just EA and an empty destination charger on arrival at the hotel to be recharged by morning (free too…but for the the $30 a night for the garage).

I did the whole Nav with Ford but kept Waze up as the active on screen map to get the alerts for hazards, traffic and speed traps.

I do it all the time. But I wait until about 20 minutes from the charger to do it; otherwise the dual voice directions are annoying.
Were you connected to CarPlay? When I am using Apple Maps for guidance, if I start Ford Nav it ends the Apple Maps route. I tried to have them both on to precondition before I got to a charger.

Yes - using CarPlay. I haven't noticed that Apple Maps nav stops when I activate Ford nav, but I will pay more attention the next time I use it. I prefer Apple Maps for the initial routing, in part because I think it does a better job with destination SoC (both at the start, and with updates along the way) than Ford nav. But once I am less than 20 miles from the next charger, I don't really care - I am using Ford nav simply because it gives me preconditioning.

Side note: I wish CarPlay - both wired and wireless - was less flakey. Since I have used it with two different iPhones and two different iOS versions, and the instability remained, I have to assume the problem lies with Ford. That is understandable; the legacy automakers absolutely suck at software.

I think CarPlay is flakey in every car, not just Fords. Mine works 90% of the time. The tech relies on a simultaneous WiFi and Bluetooth connection, I think it’s a miracle it ever works.

to clarify the Lightning does not have DCFC battery pre-conditioning; only the Mach-e has this feature.
The Lightning actually did have battery preconditioning, but it is broken right now. Another thread I don't find right now, just had the confirmation that indeed it is not working as we speak.

I’ve got version 6.2.0 installed and on iOS 17.4, but still not seeing these changes. Connected to CarPlay.
