I have been trying to add my lightning to my Apple Maps to be able get the charge routing depending on my trip. I can’t figure it out in any way. The info given on Apple and google say there should be a “add vehicle” option but can’t see it ANYWHERE. Any help with this would be great.

You need to do this in the Car with CarPlay connected

Using Apple Maps in CarPlay. It might also work on the phone app

I don’t think so. At least not in my case. I did it on my phone not in truck.

Pretty sure Apple Maps sees the lightning vehicle option from CarPlay connection.

In Apple Maps click on your profile. Then vehicles is a sub option

In my case, when I set Apple Maps to electric vehicles, it gave so much misleading information on refueling stops. You are unable to edit that, and so I finally just turned it off.

While I use Apple Maps for routing and SOC prediction, I find its charging routes to be unimpressive, and hard to customize. I don’t know if it’s improved, but it was a disaster waiting to happen on my across the desert trip to Grand Canyon last spring. I feel better planning my own route when it comes to charging stops.

Mine has worked well. I have it set to Tesla chargers only for now. It is a little conservative though and will sometimes add a stop when I start a trip and remove it halfway there.

I cannot get the "connect" option to appear in Apple Maps that will allow me to add my Lightning.

Here's my info:
  • 23 Lariat SR running SYNC 4 Software Version 23159_PRODUCT, Revision: 915
  • Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS v18.4.1
Followed instructions listed on Apple website here.

Connected to Apple Carplay while sitting in truck.

"Connect" option does not appear after getting directions. Used both Apple Maps app on phone and Carplay. No "Connect" option appears after setting destination. See screenshot below.

Deleted Apple Maps app from phone and reinstalled. Still no "Connect" option.

Clicked on my profile in Apple Maps. No "Vehicles" sub-option available.

Deleted phone from SYNC and added again. Still no "Connect" option.

Went to the How do I use Apple Maps EV Routing for Apple CarPlay? on the Ford website. Noticed it states this:
2022 and 2023 MY F-150 Lightning vehicles may require a software update.
No updates available when I check the Software Update location on my truck's screen.

What do I have to do to get the ability to add my truck to Apple Maps?

I figured out the most important step is you HAVE to have connected to the In truck “sync” system. That’s what allows the two things to talk.

Do you happen to know what software updates youve received? Apple maps integration was added in I think 6.3.

do you have your truck connected to your home WiFi and is the 12V > 85%? I’d assume you’d have gotten that update by now but if not giving the truck a chance to catch up could be worthwhile. Or a dealer visit to get caught up
