All,
While waiting patiently for BC 1.4, I was playing in the pass app. I went to updates section. It said automatic updates is turned off. I didn't turn them off. This happened in the last 2 weeks. I went to vehicle to turn them back on. Under vehicle software updates, the screen says it is checking update status. It also says something like this can take a minute or so. After 15 min, I tried again. No change. I called ford. They walked me through Sync reboot a couple of times with no change. I got an appointment with dealer. I seat at dealer 6 hours last fri, and truck as been there another 6 hours today. So far, they have not been able to fix it. They act like they are doing a software update but it faults out late in the process.
I live in Indiana, and don't think these guys ever work on BEVs. I asked about BEV battery not big enough, since that is a major difference between ice and bev.
Anybody else see my issue above?

When you check for updates, does it hang on that screen with the spinning circle thing forever?

Disconnect the negative terminal from the 12v battery for 20 minutes and then check for updates again. It should go through.

No - you don't mention it. You cancel your appointment and disconnect your negative cable yourself. The dealer won't listen and they have no other solution. Many of us have done this and it works. No one knows why, your dealer doesn't either. Something in one of the modules is hung. The reboots don't fix it. The dealer has no magic to fix it. If they resolve it for you it's because they disconnect the 12v battery for a few minutes. Save yourself the headache and trip. It's the simplest thing you can do and it works.

Well the dealer claims it's fixed. Don't know what they did. They did do some software checks.
While driving home from dealer, I got an oh $ hit alert. Big red box in middle of dash screen and audible that says check brake system. I use one pedal driving so I don't use regular brake system. I stopped and called dealer. Over the phone, They said it has to do with ABS. I have an inkling they may have updated an ABS module and added a unwanted feature.

I know this does not really need to be said(or maybe the opposite maybe it needs to be said more) but this is completely ridiculous. That these Ford “techs” seem to cause a lot of problems when people take their vehicles in for repairs!
@Ford Motor Company y’all have got to do better!!

Mine did that a couple weeks ago and I did nothing. It took care of itself and I got an update last week.

If they messed with it for any time trying to do updates or actually succeeding in stalling updates they most likely drained down the LVB. A low LVB will cause all sorts of random messages, failure notifications etc... Drive around some or put a trickle charged on the LVB and probably everything will be good... Not only that but if the LVB is healthy you will probably get succeeding updates without to many issues...

All,
Here is an update. I bought a FDRS setup. Using a Mastertech 2, VCI, plugged in it basically said it cannot communicate with ABS Module. I hooked up a 30amp regulated DC power supply. Set voltage at 13.7vdc. Also hook in a pure lead agm battery.
I cannot drive the vehicle because it does not know the brake pedal is depressed when I hit start button. At least that is what I think. I push the brake pedal, then hit the start button. It responds with message to press brake to start. Then says full accessories active. I also get faults on dash that say 1: service vehicle soon; 2: pre-collision assist not available; 3: Predestrian sounder Fault Service now; 4: Front Motor Fault Service required.

Unhooked 12v battery and put it on a charger. Made sure battery charged and hooked it back up (around 30 min unhooked) left charger on battery. It did not change anything. I decided to have it towed to dealer.
I am skeptical but might be a real hardware failure. Maybe something is hanging up the FS buss, but I would have thought the battery unhook would have cleared it unless some hardware is failing at startup and hanging to buss.

Any good ideas?
