As most of us already know, the actual battery on board the F150 Lightning is larger than stated. Ford purposely understates since they are warrantying the battery for 8 yrs and they want to avoid users charging always to 100%. My question is the following. Now that the Silverodo is on the seen with a huge battery and range, will Ford release more range or be prey to the new range capablity of the Silverodo? I must admit that had I realized that the Work truck version was coming out, I would have waited to get the extra battery range. In Canada, the darn extended range battery on the Ford was $15,000 more to get it over the standard range. When comparing to the WT4 from GM Silverodo to the Ford Flash, there is a compelling argument to go with the Chevy Silverodo. So I am hoping that Ford gives more range like they did with the MachE extended range battery so to keep competitive.

Maybe I will not hold my breath, could be a long wait for this to happen.

Ford is being hammered with warranty costs right now. I doubt they open themselves to to more potential liability.
Good point. A lack of sales could also hit the bottom line if range becomes an issue as it will next year. When all things are equal with pricing, than range becomes more important

Wishful thinking, but I'm waiting for some battery startup to make higher capacity/density battery packs for BEVs. With 'Right to Repair' gaining traction, something like an aftermarket battery swap in the future might be a possibility!

Not likely.
All of the dealers I contacted told me that the Work Truck was only available as a Fleet sale, so the pricing comparison is a little less obvious than it appears. We considered waiting for a Silverado, but the costs were/are much higher for the Silverado. And in the end, we found a great deal ($67k OTD for a Lariat ER fully loaded, etc.).

Pricing in Canada is not so wide apart. If I compare a Flash to the WT4, pricing is much closer but range with the Silverodo is better. Once discounts come in, it will be interesting.

There is not much buffer on the top. Module voltage at 100% SOC is 4.09v. Nominally max voltage for a NMC pack is 4.2. In the real world that's maybe 20 miles added range, at the expense of chopping battery lifespan in half.

Jim has been preaching recall/warranty costs for more than two years. And it just keeps getting worse and worse. Wonder what his Golden Parachute looks like? 🤔

What about a battery extender for the bed of the truck like the Cybertruck ?

So, in terms of numbers... Our ERs are 131kwh usable, like 141kwh total capacity, correct?
143 kWh total, probably rated at a 1C discharge rate.

Updated with photo. Please excuse the mud--this is a work truck.
