I have had my 2022 Lariat ER for a few months now. I LOVE the self driving aspect of the Bluecruise technology, but am really disappointed in the timing sensitivity of the look away monitoring of the system.

Prior to owning the Lightning I had a 2022 Ford Maverick. It did not have the fully hands off functionality of the Bluecruise, but did have Lane Centering which allowed for approximately 10-15 seconds of hands off / look away capability. The Lightning’s Bluecruise starts fussing after maybe 5 seconds of you looking away or down at the dash display (not the big screen, I mean the driver’s instrument display). Hell, I can barely check the settings displayed there in the amount of time before it starts fussing.

Seems like they got those two vehicle features backwards.

Okay, I’m done venting now. I still am a fan, but that short coming (My Opinion) is frustrating.

Anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

I feel the same. No buttons to be able to feel my way through, but not enough time to navigate the menus either.

More frustrating is when I glance up at my rear view and I go “Is that a cop?” And before I can finish the thought it’s yelling at me to look at the road.

At night time it’s also yelled at me while I was looking at the road…

When I wear glasses at night with Blue Cruise sometimes it will spaz out and yell at me to look at the road when I am, especially in brighter areas. It was frustrating to the point I disabled it. Only happened that one time however.

Too bad there isn't some type of reflective material that you could stick on the sensors to spoof it into thinking you were looking at all times. I'm sure at some point someone will come up with something!

You are no doubt right about that.

I’m not looking for this to be a fully self driving feature. Nor am I looking to abuse the feature, but dang it come on and make it a more enjoyable experience.

The implications of this would be catastrophic for this technology. It is not ready to let people sleep at the wheel. People will die. Multiple times in the past year of using this technology, I've had to take control to keep the vehicles (Lightning and Mach-E) from committing suicide and taking me and my passengers with it. It is improving, but still not ready.

Similar for me and I hate it. Too sensitive. Makes it useless. Makes me wish for my Tesla auto pilot Abd it’s annoying steering wheel again

Same here, except it happened more than once. I’ve screamed verbally at the truck before…even been frustrated enough to turn to my wife and say “I’m selling this POS when I get home”

It’s otherwise great when it’s not nagging me…
