Ford F-150 Lightning BlueOval Charge Network adds FPL EVolution 1738786513655-tb

Hi owners! We’re excited to announce that the BlueOval Charge Network – the largest public charging network in North America – is now even larger with the addition of our 13th public charging network partner: FPL EVolution!

With the addition of FPL EVolution to the BlueOval Charge Network, you now have access to more than 325 public fast chargers at more than 77 locations across Florida right from the FordPass app on your phone or the Public Charging app on your vehicle’s touchscreen.

As a friendly reminder, you can use the BlueOval Charge Network to pay for public charging at over 160,000 public chargers across 13 networks around the US and Canada in three ways – all from one account and without the need to download any additional apps:

With the addition of FPL EVolution, as of February 1, 2025, you now have access to public chargers from the following networks with your BlueOval Charge Network account:
  • FPL EVolution
  • Blink
  • ChargePoint (including Mercedes-Benz Charging Network)
  • Electrify America (supports Plug & Charge)
  • Electric Circuit
  • EV Connect (including ChargeSmart EV)
  • EVgo
  • FLO
  • Ford Charge
  • Francis Energy
  • Shell Recharge
  • Red E
  • Tesla (supports Plug & Charge)

FPL is a very good option in Florida from a price perspective, at 30 cents. They do charge taxes, and in some cases quite a bit of taxes, but it's a good option. Make sure to compare to Tesla, with the plan, to see if the cost makes sense.

The downside of FPL is if there is an issue with a charger, and you call to report it, they have to keep you on the line the entire time they're filling out the form. If you hang up, they lose the form in the system. I was being a nice guy reporting 2 broken chargers, and the call lasted close to 10 minutes.

Brian, not AI, from Ford...that's great and all but I rarely opt to use plug N charge through BlueOval because I want my discount. Are you working on a way to apply discounts through your network? I wouldn't mind subscribing to BlueOval for a month to get plug N charge WITH the associated discounts when I travel.

Plug & Charge and BlueOval Charge Network aren't the same thing, but they are related.

BlueOval Charge Network is a no-fee account with access to now 13 networks across the US and Canada from one app (FordPass), using one account, without needing to download all 13 apps, enter your credit card 13 times, save a password 13 times, check the 2-factor email 13 times, have 13 app tiles on your home page just for fueling, that sort of thing.

Plug & Charge is a feature that uses your BlueOval Charge Network acount to make payment and activation even easier with the only thing you need to do is to plug in your vehicle.

Plug & Charge can be toggled independently all while leaving your BlueOval Charge Network account active for app activations with FordPass. You also can bypass Plug & Charge even when it is enabled if you want to get your paid discounts with the Tesla or Electrify America app by activating a charger before you plug in.

BlueOval Charge Network is:
  • FPL EVolution
  • Blink
  • ChargePoint (including Mercedes-Benz Charging Network)
  • Electrify America
  • Electric Circuit
  • EV Connect (including ChargeSmart EV)
  • EVgo
  • FLO
  • Ford Charge
  • Francis Energy
  • Shell Recharge
  • Red E
  • Tesla
of which Plug & Charge applies to:
  • Electrify America
  • Tesla

I will never be in Florida, but I appreciate the effort Ford's done to get that large network into Blue Oval charging network. Hope it makes Florida Lightning and visiting Lightning owners have easier travels.

I'm more excited and interested to see Mercedes ChargePoint network included. I could see myself stopping at one of those Starbucks/Mercedes locations or one of the Mercedes charging lounges.

Tossing out this idea for Ford. My idea is for Ford to partner with a charging network and Home Depot and/or Lowe's. Home Depot and Lowe's have huge parking lots. They primarily serve folks with trucks. Lightning or future T3 owners could conveniently charge at a Home Depot or Lowe's since they are there picking things up. There's overlapping consumer demographics here. Truck owners would just charge while they are shopping.

Thanks for the update Brian (not AI).

Florida is a surprisingly decent State to own an EV, and this will certainly help out. I verified a couple spots near me and they are showing up as available. Great job

That's why I said plug N charge through BlueOval. I have had BlueOval activate due to EA's cloud being super slow. To avoid the hassle of cancelling and restarting I leave it off and only toggle on when I absolutely need it. In my area, BlueOval just isn't worth it. My options are Tesla and EA. I was providing feedback as to what would make me want to keep using BlueOval if/when they start charging for it.

Good to see Ford continuing to add to the network!

I will second the desire for memberships to be included though.

BlueOval Charge Network is available for as long as you own your vehicle with no annual fee. That's why I was saying there's no reason not to be enrolled. Plug & Charge can be toggled independently if you want to keep that off.

There was a fee initially when it rolled out. However, they were not able to integrate the discounts so they put a puase on the fee. Take a look at the FordPass app.

Notice that it says "buy"? That is my working assumption until I see otherwise.

I've used FPL a few times traveling up/down I75 in North and Central Florida, specifically the LAKE CITY units... of course, though, this was BEFORE the advent of Ford charging on the Tesla NACS Network, which I used certainly a MAJORITY of the time...

These FPL units can be fast, but they were a confusing mess for activation - likely Ford's PLUG N CHARGE will help soften that ...

a big help, in the Central Florida area, would be the addition of OUC ORLANDO Utilty's FAST CHARGING network, and LEVEL 2 network, all around the area.. while there are a few Superchargers open to CCS, they are actually pretty limited in this vast area... there's also only ONE single EA set that I remember, and while some EVgo's and a few other third-party brands are scattered around, I found ORLANDO to be not as 'friendly' and convenient to DC Fast Charging as I would have thought.

Restart the app, that banner has been removed as it was in error.

There was never a fee. No BlueOval Charge Network trial ever expired, no fee was ever announced. BlueOval Charge Network access was extended to lifetime in 2023. You have access to your BlueOval Charge Network payment and profile for as long as you own your vehicle, with no annual fee.

To be clear, BlueOval Charge Network and Plug & Charge are different things.

BlueOval Charge Network has easy app activation at 13 networks all from the FordPass app or the Public Charging app on your SYNC screen. Plug & Charge is also available at 2 of those 13 networks, Electrify America and Tesla.

To charge at FPL EVolution and all 13 in-network networks using BlueOval Charge Network, head to FordPass, tap Energy, then tap Public Charging. Find the charger, then tap Activate.

You are only partially correct. Perhaps you meant to say that no one was ever charged? That would also be incorrect. There was an initial roll out for $50/year that was supposed to give us the same discount as we would have gotten with Pass+ at EA. They stopped when they couldn't get the discount to apply. See a MachE forum thread here for evidence: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/blueoval-electrify-america-discount-working.15073/

Looks like that effort was abandoned, which is disappointing. I think it would be good value for a single membership that was able to get the discount for multiple providers. Around me, it's only EA and Tesla. No need to use BlueOval as I prefer getting the discount. Otherwise, we'll just take ICE since the price is the same and we save time.

I’m thankful for the convenience of adding charging networks to Blue Oval.

I find managing different apps and payment methods in each app inefficient.

I don’t DCFC enough to have any discount memberships, so I’m a big fan of Plug & Charge. (By the way, I just got the double meaning of Plug & “Charge”). I can be slow sometimes.
