NO NO NO! That is the part for the Pro and XLT, it doesn't have the cutout for the swedge that juts out on the Lariat and Platinum tailgates! It will fit into the recess and connect up fine, but the tailgate will not close.
I continue to be an idiot and didn’t see this reply before I got excited and ordered the part from eBay. So, lesson to everyone here, part numbers matched up, but they are different parts (not sure why they did that).

Aww man, sorry you didn't see it sooner, but I only tried to warn you because I've made the exact same mistake. Luckily the seller was willing to accept a return as long as I paid shipping.

Did you end up buying one from the dealer?

Actually after returning the incorrect one, I was able to find the correct one on eBay and got it for around 500 bucks. Then made an appointment to have the new tail light programmed for the BLIS module. The programming cost around d 125 bucks. (I would've just transfered the old module over to the new tail light, except it was obliterated when my truck was rear ended.)

Well, now I'm seeing something interesting. The dealership websites are starting to list new tail light part numbers for both versions. The online catalog numbers originally ended with "B" for the Pro/XLT version, and "C" for the Platinum/Lariat version. Now it looks like there are "G" and "H" versions replacing the "B" and "C" versions.

I wonder if there is any functional difference.

Finally found and got a new tail light from eBay and did the install today. I moved the blind spot from my broken tail light and everything works perfectly (no programming needed).

To move the BIS system:
  1. First you have to undo 3 t-25 screws on the back of the tail light

  2. Then pull out the module and then remove the 2 t-25 hold down screws that keep the module against the cover plate.

  4. Once out, you just repeat the same process on the replacement light

I performed the same swap however I get the following alerts. Any recommendations on how to fix this. Seems something is blocking the sensor thanks!

First I’d do a 12v battery reset just to be safe. Then I would probably pull it back apart and see if there is something stuck to the face of it. Also try plugging it in with it sitting outside of the light and see if the errors go away.

Could be something wrong with the new taillight lens, but past that I’m not sure.

Took it to the dealer. they couldn’t get it to communicate so had to order a new sensor. The cost with labor for the sensor came to 852.00. I think they also included the two hours of trying to make the old sensor to work. It did get wet while waiting for the lens Maybe that ruined the sensor.

Possibly, but wish I had known you needed a sensor, I have one out of the light I used that I could have sent you!

@ericpullen @woodbine @ctuan13 Did any of you have a hyper flash on the instrument panel when using the turn signal after you replaced the tail light? I had a hairline crack in my RH lens so bought one off eBay and moved the BLIS sensor over. It works fine, all segments light but I get a hyper flash. The light itself blinks normally.

Typically hyper flash occurs when either the bulb is out of when changing from halogen to LED. But it does not look like any LEDs are out. I put my old tail light back in and everything is fine so the wiring should be okay.

The seller says I can return it or turn off hyper flash in FORScan (which turns off light check) but I'd rather not disable functionality.

I’m dealing with this right now. I replaced the taillight last night and saw the error. I figured I would need to bring it to the dealer to get them to configure the new sensor. I didn't think to pull the old sensor out of the cracked light. I'm glad I checked the forum!

I haven't used FORSCAN but I assume this would be something you could do with that. Or even a programming OBDII reader. I've dealt with this on my Porsche when I replaced the rear mechanical controller. I had to use my Porsche-specific OBD reader to configure it to my vehicle.

ETA: I see someone had it programmed by the dealer for $125. Good to know.

I never had any hyperflash issues.
