check the rear light bar, that's a known place where water can get in. I fried mine in a carwash and it was sizzling for a bit before it completely failed. The part is being recalled but for now I have no backup light.

I had mine replaced in the spring, but good suggestion. Still no burning smell since the car wash.

After taking my truck through the car wash yesterday, I noticed a "burning smell" that lasted for a few hours as I was running around doing errands. This is the second time I've experienced it. The first time was a few weeks back when we had HEAVY sustained rain that produced some serious flooding. I want to chalk them both up to a wet undercarriage, but want to see if anyone else has experienced something similar. It didn't occur last winter through the snow/slush so I'm slightly concerned. I checked the battery coolant expansion level when the truck was cool and it was right at the line. No smell on the ride into work this morning. Thoughts or Theories?
i too had a burning smell inside my cabin a day after driving through rain. Yesterday(day after) i drove my lighting around 30 miles and no smell? I also think this is weird as i have had no problems.

mouse nest on the heater?
I’ll check next time the air flow doors in the grill open up. It’s been pretty cold so I don’t think they will open up anytime soon

Was the smell only inside, only outside, or was it both inside and outside?

Just inside. I am going to check the coolant levels as well. I saw somewhere here someone had a leak and it didn’t end well

I’ve experienced a burning smell in cab three times. It seems to smell like burned rubber. After driving I can smell it on my hands.

I’m getting a burning smell as well. I can smell on my hands after driving 10 miles or so.

Hi there! Go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer and I’ll look into this burning smell concern. Thanks!
My 2024 Lightning is doing the same. I went to a meeting last night, before I left I took a shower. Came home from the meeting and my wife said I didn’t smell very fresh. As I woke up last night to the smell of a burnt rubber almost skunky kind of smell. It was terrible. This is the third time this has happened. I’m not happy, love the truck but hate the smell. I’m going to another meeting today. It will be embarrassing sitting next to somebody during lunch with that smell. Hopefully whatever is causing it will behave today. Please follow up, let me know if you need my vin number. I called the dealer in Morgan Hill this morning.

I’ve experienced this three times. Two times after driving in the rain, once after car wash. Each time the burnt rubber almost skunk smell, permeated into my clothing. It’s terrible, I’ve called the dealer where I purchased it as well as local dealer. I’m not going to accept this, I’ve only had this 2024 Lariat for 3 weeks. Thoughts, theory’s? Nope but it’s not right.

You can initiate a DM directly with @Ford Motor Company with your personal details, (do not share in this public thread), they will attempt to facilitate communications with the BEV Team and your dealership, mention what dealer you will have service with.

Once it's fixed, let us know what the problem & solution is.

If it's any consolation, the smell stopped all together after my original post. I've had it in the rain, through the car wash, washed it at home and nothing. I can't help but wonder if there was something sprayed on the "undercarrigage" that has since disapated. Just a guess.

It was suggested to me that the brakes may of had rust, when they were wet the rust burned off causing the smell.
