Yeah unfortunately that sounds like some hardware issues with the truck. If it's a software thing, sometimes disconnecting the 12 volt to force a full reboot of everything can help, but if there are issues with the battery then who knows. Sorry to hear, that's a pretty bad experience.
Thanks for replying. Nice to see someone recognize there’s an issue and not just scold about how the truck is an “amazing machine” and how nothing could ever be wrong with it. I like the truck too, when it works. So much better than the gas loaner we had last time the lightning was at shop. But I didn’t buy a brand new truck to have my family stuck on road trips. We will likely never have confidence on a road trip again with this truck.

Roadside service is included to a charger.
edit = limit on distance ....
Road side assistance was less than helpful and was only interested in towing it to the nearest dealer which was even further in the middle of nowhere and have probably never even seen a Lightning. So elected to pay out of pocket to tow it to the city.

Maybe DM @Ford Motor Company to see if they can give your dealer a kick in the pants. Even if it is a rare problem, Ford knows bad news circulates a lot faster than good, so they will probably be willing to help.

When you tried to DC charge did you hear the charge port on the truck lock the DC charge handle in place? Just grasping at straws but without that lock it won’t charge. As to why it might not lock, I can’t say but it’d be a clue to troubleshoot with. Dealership should be able to run diagnostics on the health of the system and look for error codes.

Thank you. That would be excellent. Last time I tried to contact Ford for reimbursement they just transferred me around to different departments each time guaranteeing that this next department would be the right one to help me. Literally went on for hours. I’ll try though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think everything sounded normal but honestly it’s hard to recall at this point, was slightly flustered at the time.

I can see via the Ford app that the dealership is charging it (to 100%) right now on level 2. I’m guessing they will call and try to say that it’s working perfectly fine and must have been the public charging station(s).

I would hope they stop and bring it to a DCFC for verification that part of the system is also functional.

Does the dealership have a DCFC on site? Some do.
