Okay Henry, no one is forcing you to converse in this thread. Some people are actually trying to be helpful. Sorry for not following the cultural guidelines of this forum and blindly worshipping a truck. Lord.
I can see via the Ford app that the dealership is charging it (to 100%) right now on level 2. I’m guessing they will call and try to say that it’s working perfectly fine and must have been the public charging station(s).
Please advise when you know more, Ford needs to fix it. Software or Hardware??Maybe DM @Ford Motor Company to see if they can give your dealer a kick in the pants. Even if it is a rare problem, Ford knows bad news circulates a lot faster than good, so they will probably be willing to help.
You don't have to worship the truck but you could be respectful of other people. That's the culture I'm talking about.Okay Henry, no one is forcing you to converse in this thread. Thanks Grumpy, no further info yet. I had to call the dealership and explain that the AC and DC charging systems are basically separate systems. Then they kept repeatedly asking me if I was using “my own cord” on the DCFC that wouldn’t work. Not exactly questions that inspire confidence. Please advise when you know more, Ford needs to fix it. Software or Hardware??
I’ve been respectful to absolutely everything that has had something to add to the convo. Heliian coming in here and talking crap and adding nothing to the convo certainly doesn’t deserve my respect. It’s a two way street. Why are you even still here? Surely there’s more culturally appropriate threads to go read. To everyone else thank you kindly for the questions and help. You don't have to worship the truck but you could be respectful of other people. That's the culture I'm talking about.
@Heliian was the first person to reply and he provided useful information. Read his posts again, he wasn't "talking crap."I’ve been respectful to absolutely everything that has had something to add to the convo. I have just read this entire thread. If I were the OP I have to say that I would also find the "assistance" as offered by @Hellian as unhelpful. Or less.@Heliian was the first person to reply and he provided useful information. Read his posts again, he wasn't "talking crap."
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I tried every possible combination on every charger. Nothing would work. I too have had issues like that but never had the red ring on the charging port. I’m a believer of the simplest explanation usually being the correct one and I just doubt that both brand of chargers were malfunctioning at the exact same time.I have just read this entire thread. To the OP I am hopeful that you are able to find a quick resolution to this issue. I once experienced a DCFC charging failure at a site where I had previously charged both my i4 and the Lightning successfully. Called their support line and spoke to a very lovely French woman who rebooted the pedestal for me twice. No luck. Long story short, in my case it turned out to be simple user error as I was able to charge at that very pedestal the very next day. To successfully charge at that location (a CircleK) you need to initiate the session and THEN plug in the cable. The first day I was doing the opposite and failing every time. Not expecting that this is your issue but just relating something that happened to me. First day I was in a hurry and the second day I was not. Also, I'm not sure if I was driving my i4 or the Lightning.
I can also relate another episode just for comic relief if not direct help with this issue. We still own an ICE powered vehicle but I have not driven it much in the last two years. Recently I was piloting it and needed to stop to fill the tank. Turns out that after only a couple of years of EV driving my gas pump skills have decayed to the point that I failed at using the pump and had to suffer the indignity of walking in and asking the station attendant for help. Now I remember that you have to use the hose that is on the same side as the fuel grade selector you are pressing! Duh. Don't let this happen to you!
Did I say anything about lemon laws in Canada? I said the truck is a lemon. I can attempt to initiate a buyback with the dealership despite the lack of lemon laws too.So far as I've stated:
No lemon law in Canada, you don't like it but it's the truth.
Before that I mentioned you should be wary of your dealer as the systems are seperate and if they don't know that, find another one.
Thirdly, I responded to another commenter that you took out of context. "Apparently" isn't factual evidence of a claim and I extremely dislike claims that have no facts or evidence.
My comments can be inflammatory or in poor taste but not everyone is perfect, vehicles aren't perfect either and we're here to try and give you some info on how to get your truck fixed.
Clearly there is a problem with the dcfc side of it, port or actuator replacements are the most common.
What are you even on about this “apparently” thing? The dealership showed me the HVB code that they could see was on it before I bought it. You seem really fun to talk with.So far as I've stated:
