Between the pics they have up of the 2d vs 3D I prefer the 2d myself. Wish I could see both in person on a truck.

Loving the looks of the 3D - that is what I wanted and hoped for. I've written the Etsy shop owner to see if he will offer AMB. I don't know the process for making these, but I do know others have noted that the vinyl wrap materials are available in the truck colors, including AMB. So provided they start with something like that then we might get an AMB. If not - I may have to go for the brighter blue to match the "Lightning", but that isn't my initial preference.

I just put on the original flag version...now I just saw the 3D version and I think my heart skipped a beat. Now if only it was reflective.
My 3D flag inserts shipped today. Now I just need a truck.

Part of what sucks being an early adopter. Oh well, when my 2d wear out maybe I'll upgrade to 3d.
Just ordered the 3D one to see what I think! Looks pretty cool, particularly with a dark-truck contrast (SQ).

Yikes... I hope that looks better in person, because that isn't all that attractive.

May you die a slow-roasted fiery, painful death with the heat of a thousand suns.

Now you're just being cruel for the sport of it.

I might have to just eat the $45 for the two D and buy the three D. Hopefully I have the discipline to not buy the three D until after I receive my truck and have a chance to see the two D.

I messaged the shop owner as I wanted the 3D in my AMB truck color. I'm OK with a muted or all dark look. I think the truck color would look shorp there. For now however, he is focused on accent colors and patterns, not the truck colors.

I just ordered the F-150 inserts for the tailgate in matte black with Lightning blue outline! To replace the chrome inserts that I installed today - I guess the dental floss will get a workout. Also installed the side badge blue vinyl today - this guy does great work, totally worth the money.

The letter inserts, i can go for. But i can achieve this same look with painters tape for 5 bucks. I'm gonna one up this guy right now. For $7.99, i'm gonna buy this roll of tape, cut strips with my wifes fancy scissors, and sell them for $47.50/free shipping. I'll also include the remainder of the roll for touch-ups.

The crazy thing for me is that none of these Etsy links work. I'm not sure if they've been having trouble with them fitting or something like that, but none of them are still there. I can't even find another seller that sells them, but I did find one that claimed to have an SVG file with the correct dimensions.

So, I bought a Cricut machine and the dimensions are completely wrong and now I'm struggling with simply getting a design that fits.

For anyone who thinks paying $50 for a piece of vinyl is a lot, you can't imagine how much work it is to design a a design that fits as it should. Keep in mind those Etsy vendors probably don't even have access to an actual Lightning that they can use to measure or test their designs.

So, for this simple task, I've spend over $500 for the cutting machine, a digital caliper for measuring, supplies and the Cricut subscription and I still don't have a working design to cut.

At least I'm having fun using the machine for other things. That's the only way I can justify spending this much for a simple insert that I still can't make.

I'm still working on measuring and designing an SVG / vector design that fits. If I actually get a design that fits, I'll share it. If anyone has already done this, can you share it?

So far, the only part that I can say fits is the dash. That was easy. It's just a rectangle. You've gotta start somewhere. :D

I think I finally got the measurements right. So, I started over and I'll post the steps for anyone who has a cutting machine like a Cricut and are curious.

Instead of using the artwork I found on Etsy, I simply started by taking a photo.

Then I traced the inside of each part. At this point it looks good on screen, but I couldn't figure out how to make it the right size.

Then I realized the program I used was in pixels. I adjusted it to use inches, then I drew a 9 inch box in the document, which is the approximate width from end to end.

After that, I selected the photo, and my traced F-150 and shrunk it until the lettering was the same size as the box. The result is that I could export the lettering (without the photo) into my Cricut software and it looks like I finally have a good fit.

Details to follow.
