The Astoria-Warrenton (Oregon) Ford dealer put chargers in 2020 as I recall. Up and operating in 2021. By the thesis of the OP, the clueless Chevrolet dealer is so behind the times.

I try to charge at Ford dealerships if possible but sometimes they have cars that they are selling parked in front of the chargers, which makes it impossible! If you’re going to invest that kind of money in a DC FC I would think you would try to recoup your investment?

My local FORD (Glasgow, Ky) stealer ship installed two DCFC chargers early this year 2024 and have yet to activate them. They still have plastic in the handles. 🙁

The Chevy dealer has had theirs open since earlier this summer. Don’t know what their cost is but the Chevy dealer in Bowling Green, KY shows .75c per KWH. Hell EA at the Corvette Museum is .56c and I thought that was pretty hefty.

The Chevrolet dealers I visited and the one I bought my Bolt from a few years ago were worse than clueless.

Don't think it's a Chevy/Ford thing. The Ford dealership closest to me has one the fastest chargers in the entire city and the chevy dealership doesn't even have one available to the public. I believe it has more to do on how forward thinking the dealerships owner/management are. Some are embracing EV's and gaining customers by making them the go to place for EV's and others are trying to suppress them and hoping they go away. We'll see in a few years who had the better long term strategy.

I’m sorry…. This day was a bad Ford EV Navigation Day from Marquette, MI to Canton, MI and I was venting a little.

Chargers are sparse in northern Michigan. The route included a 36-mile side trip to Escanaba, MI for charging. The fast chargers were out of service.

Riverside Chevrolet had an inoperable fast charger and a 7.5 kW charger. The Riverside Ford next door didn’t have any chargers. The Riverside Jeep next-next door didn’t have any chargers either.

I think Riverside just installed the charger at their first business on that road going into town which happened to be their Chevrolet franchise.

Towed my teardrop camper with the lightning to the UP for our vacation this year. My advice (actually, for any trip) is to use ABRP for planning, favor Tesla superchargers, and never, ever, ever go to a dealer charger unless there are absolutely no other options. (Also, I would never trust Ford navigation to find anything in a timely fashion)

For your route, in particular, the supercharger in Marquette (if needed) followed by the supercharger in Mackinac City, should have enabled you to skip Escanaba. If you don't have an adapter, RUN, don't walk, and get one.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, when we were sitting at the 7.5 kW and looked at Ford Nav the broken fast DC charger at Meijer was no longer on the map.

I was waiting for the NACS adapter Jim Farley promised us. Ford EV Navigation often wants to route me to Tesla. So far none of Tesla have CCS even though Ford EV Nav charger details say they do. I guess I’ll get one from Amazon… $200 to alleviate anxiety.

I like the Lightning… I do very well, day in and day out with Grizzl-E charger at home on 30-amp 240-VAC circuit.
