Thought I’d throw this out to the brain trust as I sit at a SC drawing 179kw. (Not to shabby!) so every so often for the past few weeks when I get into truck and power on the cluster has gone back to main screen where you can choose my view etc. and the chimes that come thru the audio system would randomly come from the cluster. Now the last few days I’ve noticed that the chimes are always coming from cluster. And I’m still getting the cluster resetting the screen oh and also when the screen reset happens I also have to go into center screen and turn off the “asking if I want motion sensors off” for the alarm. Now I’m thinking maybe the 12v battery could be the culprit. 🤔 I have a Bluetooth monitor on the 12v battery and the soc will drop if truck is not plugged in after awhile. I’ve seen it around 69-65% and the voltage is usually in the 12.3-12.5 ish range. The dealer tested the battery 2 weeks ago and said it was good. Any thoughts are welcome. 😁

My truck does this sometimes as well. I read somewhere that it has to do with the audio drivers in the computer. If they don't initialize right away like they're supposed to, the chimes come out as "beeps" from the instrument cluster instead of nice chimes from the audio system.

The slowness could have something to do with the LVB. I've noticed that I tend to get the "beeps" more often after a long period of unplugged without driving.

I think this is all part of their horrendous 12v battery management. My truck will do this more in the winter, rarely in the summer. I didn't drive for 2 days this past week and I always know when I open the door. The cluster is black. It won't greet you with what it normally does when you first open the door. The chimes change and nothing happens until you hit the start button. Then I get the yellow warning about Electrical System drain. Really - after sitting for only 2 days with not accessories of any kind on?

I'd say other than the bad HV battery modules many of us have had to have replaced the 12 v battery management and the problems that come form it, including bad SW installs has to be the weakest part of this truck.

And tell me why they can't figure it out and fix it.

Have you tried a Sync reset? Press and hold volume down and skip forward on the steering wheel until the Sync screen goes black. Might work, might not, but it's free and easy.

I have not. I did use forscan and did a module reboot of the IPC and APIM. But I will also try this as well. Can’t hurt.

What battery do ya’ll suggest for the 12V replacement? S it specialized or similar to a regular truck battery?

I looked it up and it’s an H3. I think I read someone saying that technically you could put a larger size battery in but ford did not recommend it except for the pro model.

I long for that. Would stop my wife from complaining about my seat belt not being fastened.

Bro that was deactivated before I left the dealer! lol. Easy way is forscan or you can follow the instructions in manual to disable the beltminder. If you use forscan you can also turn off the gay alien noise and backup beeper as well as a bunch of other cool shit. Btw my wife bitches at me too about the belt too. You’re not alone. 🤣

Your 12V battery is low if you get the chimes through your cluster instead of the audio system. Your Bluetooth monitor might be draining it.

Ever since I got the BC1.4 update, I swear I'm getting more of the cluster chimes vs via the audio system. I don't think OP is crazy.

I also have never had lv battery issues (or any external devices) and now this latest update won't install.

Something's afoot.

Well I suppose that could be a possibility. It’s supposed to be very low energy but who knows. Maybe I will disconnect it and see what happens.

The 1.4 update might have lowered the charge on your 12v and it's now preventing the 10.3 update from installing. Do you have a way to check your 12v level?

Well - it's much colder now across much of the US and those of us that got early '22's those LV batteries are 3 years old. I would not be surprised if the vast majority of them are not replaced this year. They are underpowered and mis- managed.

I’m thinking that for my truck. It’s a 23 and was built in aug 23 but I did not buy it until August 24. So it sat in transit and at dealer for a year. And with the cold snap we had last week I think it’s possible my battery might not be doing so well. Even though it tests as ok I might just get a new one. I’ll have to see if Costco sells H3 size batteries.
