Not just the expense but there is a significant safety factor related to placing EVSEs in out of the way places.

A month or two ago a woman was beaten and I think kidnapped while charging behind Target here in LA.

Unlike other vehicles, an EV is tethered to its parking spot and that places anyone really at risk but vulnerable people at much higher risk.

That is a great perspective. I’ll have my head on a swivel when I’m charging publicly.

That’s not lazy….that’s a douche.
My first edit included a snazzy version of that phrase, but edited it out ..... LOL.

You obviously are a much classier retired guy than I am. 27 years of criminal defense has hardened me. Lol.

Down at Disneyland the Mickey and Friends parking structure has 75-80 chargepoint chargers. Every day they fill up and at least half the EVs parked in them aren't actually charging. Its a private lot so I don't know if anything can even be done.

The biggest problem if you see all the spots open on the app and think there's plenty of EV charging available when in reality there's none most days.

If you don't want to put that tow hitch in the lightening to good use and move them, you can carry one of these:

They should make it a law that if you're in an EV spot and not plugged in, you get a ticket. With the big push to EV's this is going to become a bigger and bigger problem.

I think the biggest problem you'll find is that the world is full of selfish people. Think of the shopping cart, it is the best example that people cannot self regulate for the greater good. Unless laws were very stiff AND enforced, people would just ignore them. In fact, I bet some coal rollin' redneck would make a YouTube channel dedicated just to getting tickets by taking up charging spots and blowing exhaust into parked EVs anyway.

sw engineering manager,
If you had a charging extension cord you could just double park behind them and still plug into the charger. Leave a note with your phone number to call you to come move your car when they are ready to leave.
That will certainly lead to some "interesting" confrontations.

Yah, I agree, but I have seen police not able to ticket on private property, EV charging violators.

When I was at Las Vegas - Caesar's Casino, there were EA chargers and half were not plugged in and half of those were ICE.

We (Chevy Bolt, MME, and my Lightning) called security & PD to help, but they could not do anything and LVMPD parking meter vehicle stopped by and could not ticket them due to private property.
