Ok I'm finalizing everything and thinking of making it a flip design so you could just flip it open to push the button.

What do you guys think flip design or pull off design?

After I finish I will sell you one if you cant print your own for cheap or put the STL file online someplace.
More than likely none of us will ever use the ā€œhelp, Iā€™ve fallen in the frunk and canā€™t get upā€ button, I donā€™t see any need to make it a flip cover. A simple fixed cover with a 3/4ā€ diameter hole in the center to stick a finger through would be sufficient. I would also be fine with a fixed cover without a hole as my entire 6ā€4ā€ self couldnā€™t fit in the Frunk and my 5ā€™2ā€ wife is smart enough not to lock herself in.

Can that button be unplugged without setting an error code? That button doesnā€™t need to exist in my child free world. Maybe Ford will reprogram the button to be a double press to resolve the issue without covers.

I recently had some radar detector mounts printed with Jawstec.com. The parts came out great and were delivered in about a week.
For an escort radar?

I think @Ford Motor Company ought to keep the existing switch as it is but just change the depth of the recess in the Frunk tub so that the button isn't mashed by things that move around in there. If they recessed it like an inch, or inch and a half, then things wouldn't be so liable to hit the button and cause panic. That's the cheapest solution I think.

#32 suggestion of the clear cover, trimmed on one side, worked along with matching 8x3mm magnets superglued to the plastic.

You think that now but when you get kidnapped and thrown in the Frunk you are going to wish that button was there :)

Wow - looks like I'm very late in thanking @TexasGardeningGirl and @LUXMAN for the glow in the dark cover they made for me over a year ago. I was thinking I had done that. Apologies.

Updating and linking this thread over to a new one that just started, because it looks like the '23's may now have some sort of cover from the factory.

For anyone that doesn't have one - these are very sturdy and make a great cover for the switch.

And what about the poeple that dont own a 3d printer. can i buy it from you on etsy or something?
call your local library, our library prints them as most do, ours charges 30 cents a gram for the filament. It's $3 for this cover. and you get to choose color.
call your library
go to think verse find it and send to library then go pick it up when ready
ours is way better than the new ford in my opinion as it covers he button .

I wonder if my truckā€™s previous owner was on thIs forum. Mine is a 5/22 build that I bought last month with 18K on the clock.

It had a clear frunk release cover like some in this thread, and I pulled it off as soon as I got home because I thought it was a safety hazard. I have a 9-year-old, and I often have neighborhood kids crawling all over the the house. The last thing Iā€™d ever want is for one of them to get locked in the frunk and not be able to work the button.
