Wait - Ted Britt Chantilly told you they wouldn’t do it?
Ted Britt Chantilly is a dealership in Northern Virginia. They have been here since I was a kid, so it is at least 60 years now. They have over the years been a very reliable dealership. I have noticed that they were not accurate with me when I approached them to buy a Lightning. I said some dealerships not too far away where discounting Lightnings, including the Platinum 2023. I was told Ford did not allow discounts on Lightnings. Well, I have a quote and a deposit on a Lightning being built the dealership ordered with a blend date of 10/8/2023 and a discount of 5,800 dollars. This is a discount from the new, lower starting price.

Too bad, but there are other dealerships.

Oh yea their sales folks are terrible, but unfortunately thats the norm here in NoVA. I am not surprised to hear your experience. My reservation was with Ted Britt Fairfax, but they tried to tack on 10% to the MSRP and sent me on a three dealership reservation tour before I found a quality one in NJ.

I was surprised by @Defiant81 ’s comment because when Ted Britt contacted me to set up the mobile repair for my dash mat and I asked about the this CSP and the wiper motor recall. They called me back and said they could do it all at a mobile visit. So I’m curious to see what happens on Monday….

I will be so happy to hear your experience. I didn't even know there was a mobile repair. I will be watching out for your update. As I said, TBF was wonderful for a dealership. I hope it was just a bad apple or 2, but I don't think so in the sales department.

I think some dealerships build up a loyal customer base, figure they can ride the reputation train, but sooner or later that train derails if not maintaining good service.

Had a great mobile service today. The tech confirmed the wiper motor and light bar recall, parts are on order.

He applied the updated battery module software check and I think I'm clear. I asked him if he would consider applying the WACM update (the phone charging module) because it will never apply OTA. He said why not just do them all. He applied all the updates I had - 12 or so of them. Took only about 30 minutes. Great service, very nice guy, Utter Ford from Denton. It's about 30 miles from me, but they made the trip since I was referred to them (uh - Thanks @LUXMAN ) They are making a new customer and I have to drive by a few other dealers just to get out to them. I've got a huge dealership 4 miles from me and I bought elsewhere.

Here are my battery readings - I do realize #6 is missing, I didn't know there was maybe more than one screen. I'm not sure why modules 7 and 8 have the dashed line around them. One shot just scrolls down so you can see what FDRS says are the limits.

The dashed lines indicate the modules are on Tier 2 / upper level.

I have an update on my battery replacement with Bill Utter Ford. They ordered the battery earlier this week and it arrived today. They will start work on it early next week and it should take 2-3 days once they start. I'm surprised they got the part that fast. I also found out that they were the first in the nation to replace a battery on a Lightning and have done multiple trucks. I am glad I am not the first with them.

They also had me come in to switch out my Mach E, because they had sold the one I was driving. They gave me another one that is a nicer trim level with the glass roof and it only had 30 miles on it. It is nice, but it's not a Lightning. Can't wait to get my new truck back.

Never buying another ford from them. I’ll just find another dealer.

Just got the letter. I have not read all the 14 pages on the thread yet but I can't wait to type this.

Six months ago my SOH was 100% Module variation 0.32%.
last month SOH was 98% and variation 0.22%.
Now SOH is 98.5% and module variation 0.36%.
I didn't know battery could get healthier on it's own.

Module voltage variation has always been 0 V
Min, Max cell voltage is not part of my standard screens, I may have to dig in deeper to make a custom page.

I have had close to zero DC fast charging and My AC has always been 30A and 24A. My power band when driving is usually under 20% and most of the time under 10% with a few under 5 seconds mad max acceleration.

The question is, based on my numbers, should I wait for OTA or take it to dealer? Could it stop moving after OTA and need to be towed? I thought part of the update is letting it move on low power instead of dying.

p.s. Anyone have had good experience with service around Baltimore Maryland? Which dealer?

It might be worth giving your dealer a call, but given some of the experiences some on the forum have had with clueless dealer techs, maybe you outta wait for the OTA update.

But I wanna ask, how old is your truck, do you know the build date? How many months is it saying the battery age is? Do you charge to 100%? Do you often drain the battery below 40%? 20%?

I'm just curious to see what different owners battery health metrics look like in relation to how they use their trucks.

Also I was debating on whether or not I should start a new thread for this, but I think I can just leave this here. My XTool scall tool recently got a new update that gave it full compatibility with my Lightning's systems and I finally got around to trying it out last night.

I did a full scan and other than "silent" (don't illuminate a dash light) codes related to my TCU being unplugged (privacy/security concerns), I didn't see any other codes. I went into do a full scan of the BECM and here's some of the live data I saw. As of now, doesn't seem like this can get quite as granular as FDRS with individual cell voltages and module breakdowns, but this is still nice to see.

Also at least per the BECM it appears the actual pack capacity is 158KWh. If true, that is a significant buffer that Ford built in. That certainly boosts my confidence in the pack having a longer cycle life, especially if it's only charged to 85% or 90%.

There's also one listed value that looks like it might be cycle count, but my scan tool for some reason won't allow me to view the full text field and based off of what I can read, I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Mobile service came and went. Were here for about 1.5 hrs and took care of the dash mat and wiper motor recalls as well as the BECM CSP. All in all it was painless, though I seem to now have an intermittent problem with the tailgate not going down via the button. Will go down if I use the button on the dash or fob but will not go down if I use the button on the tailgate without first pushing one of the other buttons. 🤷‍♂️

As for the specific BECM update, it seems to have gone smoothly and no issues on the first test ride to get some lunch.

So I just got an adapter and forscan light and still trying to figure things out, but to your point. A few weeks ago I was seeing 131 for the capacity and last week it changed to 136 after one of the updates...

Good to hear your service visit went relatively painless! If you're having issues with the tailgate, it might be worth pulling the negative terminal of the battery for a 12V reset. Often resolves those weird electronic gremlins.

Oh wow that's cool data to see, glad we can compare some of the more detailed metrics. Okay so I'm fairly certain after seeing your value that EvBatteryPackLifetime has to be cycle count. Although Ford doesn't let us see it in the UI, good to know there's at least a way to see it.

And I see, that's interesting. Yeah I'd almost say that 136 still seems too low for overhead. I vaguely remember some engineering data or something mentioning something like 141KWh or 145KWh. But yeah to me 158KWh seems like an exceptionally large buffer, but I guess it's possible?

I think we need to defer to @MickeyAO for an expert opinion on the matter and the numbers we're seeing!
