It seems that some (or all?) 2020+ Ford vehicles may come with a built-in Wig Wag function (flashing lights)

I found this thread that discusses the feature in detail:
2020 FPIU Headlight Wig Wag Patterns
https://elightbars.org/forums/threads/2020-fpiu-headlight-wig-wag-patterns.96728/

To enable it, you'll need to use Forscan and connect pin #1 (orange wire) from the white harness—likely located in the center console—to ground.

Has anyone here successfully activated this feature on a Ford Lightning? I'd love to hear your experiences. Does it flash the tail lights as well?

Also, for our LEO members:
Can you clarify when it’s appropriate or allowed for us normal people to use the Wig Wag function?

Edit. Added the thread link.

In Virginia, state law states that flashing headlights, such as wig-wag headlights, are for emergency vehicles as defined by the Code of Virginia. Additionally, they are not allowed to operate at night, unless you are in York County or the Cities of Poquoson, Portsmouth or Chesapeake.

Arizona law also prohibits its use by the general public. I believe most states do. I know someone who activated something similar long ago and ended up in court on charges of impersonating an LEO.

On my 2019 Ranger I hardwired a Whelen flasher into the tail lights and it worked nicely. From what I'm aware, it can't be done through Forscan. You'll need a flasher.

I have a Lightning Pro with the SSV trim (special service vehicle, aka police support vehicle - not for pursuit). I have heard this is the only trim that has the option for wig-wag and taillight flashing built in.

It is not available in my settings but I have read somewhere that it is able to be activated if you have the proper credentials. It might have been in the Ford literature pitching the SSV package to government agencies. My guess is if you wanted to spend the time searching it might be available somewhere in ForScan, but probably only in the SSV trim level.

-------
EDIT:
I just searched the Ford SSV webpage and it only talks about "optional red/blue LED strobes" being available. I couldn't find anything about wig-wag.

I'll be looking through ForScan this weekend for a different project and let you know if I come across the setting.

I’m interested in this as well. I’ve been following some aftermarket lighting companies that have developed rear wigwags for the reverse lights (not reverse brake flash). I’m really hoping a company can come out with something.

Why would a non LEO want this feature enabled?
Use of the vehicle on private land, use during events such as a local autocross (as support vehicle) or as a parking vehicle for a school function, or maybe if you are at an accident, or maybe involved IN an accident. You may also have things like firefighters or other non-LEO responders.
