Maybe I'm not understanding how a range extender works or what it does, but it seems to me it should run on diesel rather than gasoline.

Kind of a shame because the Lightning really is an awesome truck. I suppose I’ll end up getting a Rivian next if they are still in business. Hopefully I won’t replace the Lightning for 6+ years, and who knows, maybe by then Tesla will make a normal truck looking truck.

every single brand new F150 on the lot where I live cost more than 50 grand, and most of them are more than 80. If they don’t believe in big expensive vehicles, what’s going on here? Sounds really like they just don’t believe in full size EVs anymore.

Im with you. None of it makes sense.
It’s more like they are bending to the narrative “FORD IS LOSING BILLIONS TO EVs!!!!”

Kind of surprised people like this guy. His videos are about twice as long as they need to be because he thinks he's so funny. I had a drunk thought one night that I should take his videos and re-release them without the wasted 'jokes' lol.

LOL... It's an acquired taste I guess. He has the same type of humour as me so I get a laugh out of it. He has some great content though and backs up what he says with where he got the info from, but yeah, if all you are looking for is the meat and potatoes, not the guy to watch.

I truly believe the dealers don’t push the BEV since they make literally $0 in maintenance
It is an entire change in a business model that the average dealership can not absorb

Lots of hubris from Farley. The EREV concept would have been great if they created it already. I’m laughing at the CyberTruck now but once laughed at the Focus, then drove one for 11 years.

There are at least two other perfectly valid reasons for an EREV, both revolving around long distance travel.
1) Long haul towing
2) Charging deserts

The first is never going away unless/until there is a substantial improvement in battery energy density and/or charging speed. I thought the second was doing OK, but now with recent developments in the US it will probably be an issue for quite a while yet.

In some places like most of Canada away from highways, there will never be enough charging infrastructure, so hybrids will be needed for decades to come.

Blackberrys were really an awesome product. They could still be around if they would have adopted a few options to compete. Hell, they had the first 'blue bubble' in their own way.

I suppose this is to say we will look back at how awesome the Lightnings were and how it seemed like an obvious good decision to buy at the time.....

Long haul towing was resolved already. It's called an ICE truck. Adding all the integration complexity and a smaller battery that goes through its cycles way faster and accomplishes what? Sorry I am sour. I just spent thousands repairing my hybrid and it's still not fixed and nobody can figure out what's wrong. Now I am getting, "well maybe you need to change the small 16kw battery for $43000 suggestion". Hybrids are nightmares to troubleshoot and repair. They are not the best of both worlds, they are the worst of both worlds with twice the chance of something going wrong. First and last hybrid for me.
