I see a lot of potential for this to thread to go sideways .... please be decent & respectful of the diverse opinions of members on the forum, as well public personalities or the thread will go into the binary bit bucket.

Ill be decent and pull a page out of the Tesla Fanboy playbook.

This article is pure FUD due to the 4th QTR numbers where the 3 year old Lightning outsold the shiny new Cybertruck. Stalling CT sales even with deep discounts is slowing their production numbers. Now with Elon Musk hijacking the Govt everyone is trying to kiss his arse..... hence this article.....

Comparing Apples to Oranges, a SR to the one and only battery pack offered by Tesla is hilarious. When the RWD comes out then go ahead and compare them.

The Lightning owner at the beginning of the article who's unhappy with his truck chose poorly for his situation. If he would have purchased the extended range instead of the standard range, he would be perfectly fine with his Lightning and the writers would have been forced to look for another "victim" that didn't do their homework and made a poor purchase choice for their needs.

Thank you for posting what is a giant waste of time article filled with incorrect assumptions and what i can only assume are made up "testimonials". There is no connection to Tesla at all in the article except "cybertruck sold more." big deal, they sold a few thousand more units in 2024 because it was the launch, we'll see how this year plays out.

My favorite dumbass comment in the article is that Ford including the "$2000 charger" is a new thing to spur sales.

. If he would have purchased the extended range instead
He would probably still be an anxious B. Man has 40 miles of range left at his destination and panics?
The other dipswitch in the article thinks he'll need a superduty to tow his wife's clothing business around town, why TF would you buy a half ton then? Even then, you need commercial shipping if your clothing amounts are that hefty and bulky. Just wait until he prices out one of those, and a trailer, and fuel and maintenance. Some people just can't be helped.

I just assumed those testimonials were fake.

Not new to us, but think of the average person who reads Fortune. It’s likely geared more toward the investor crowd than anything else. But there are some tidbits relevant to the Lightning so I felt like it was worth sharing. Not saying I agree with any of it lol

And there’s also no shortage of people who had buyers remorse about the Lightning if you spend a minute on Facebook, Reddit, or any public forum really. Not saying they are right, but it wouldn’t be too hard to find a “source” to back up whatever point you’re trying to make.

Who cares? The cybertruck owners have a crappy looking truck that cuts your fingers off. I have a beautiful, stylish, useful, and functional pickup truck people like everywhere.

This article does show how incompetent ford/ Farley is after 5 years when it comes to product line up IMO. Ford got greedy and just kept raising the price of the lightning until Tesla just dropped pricing and wiped out all the EV momentum. Does ford “skunkworks “ realize they already have a $30k car in the Mach e right now?

they report at the end of the bell today - I would not be one bit suprised if they sold the crap out some excess inventory lightning’s the past 3 months. At the price point they are selling / even with discounts and the free charger and set up- pumping out the exact same truck with limited options/paint - reduced features ….if they don’t report some kind of profit then I’m afraid they never will and they need to clean house and start in a new direction.

GM proved you can get 500 miles on a truck charge - a 8000 lbs expedition (3 row) or f250 that can go 450 miles sounds like a nice set up to me.

Building new large EV models in the current regulatory environment with no clarity on incentives or trade stability seems like the right call in hindsight. I don’t think ford made the wrong decision with the lightning either. I mean, it’s 9 inches longer than the CT is and all of that went to useable space. Ask your significant others if they wanted you to be 9 inches longer than the other guy and see what they say ;)

I looked at the Silverado first. I could not find anything that would make me buy one of those instead of the Lightning. There are no comparisons to the luxury of the Lightning IMHO. The 450 mile battery, we all know what that means, your mileage may vary. Most of all I did not want to have an 8000+lb vehicle crack my driveway or garage floor.

the average person who reads Fortun
I don't know who the average fortune reader is but if they're looking for info on ford's economics then they'll be led astray by the outdated information. Ford made a huge capital investment in upgrading plants and development, nobody should be surprised that they didn't recoup those costs in 2 years. They also failed to mention that rivian was bailed out by the vw group. The positive here is that Ford has a whole pile of ice and hybrid offerings to keep the company going whereas Tesla and rivian are purely relying on their ev's. Stellantis has a pile of garbage offerings and it's unlikely the ram charger will see the light of day but that's nothing new either.

The article was cobbled together for clicks ahead of Wednesdays reports and is Imo, a time waster with no valuable information. Even the headline makes no sense as the article itself only makes a one line mention of the Tesla truck and nothing else of value.

Nothing against you at all, I appreciate your contribution to this site. My grievances are with these types of click bait articles masquerading as current news and information.
