I was so READY for the NY auto show. So upset they cancelled it. Of course they are still having that huge concert in Central Park on 9/21.

Think we can convince Ford to come to upstate NY? LOL.
What’s the concert in Central Park? Is there a link for this?

I'm expecting my first look will be at the state fair of Texas in October. I'm sure it will be behind ropes though. I sure hope they have a drive event for reservation holders cause I've been in a modern f150 and driven a recent Chevy quite a bit but I'd rally like to get some hands on time (especially to let the wife see how she likes it).

Ford, WhyUNo come to Denver?
Do we know for sure they won’t? It seems they announce a location and send out invites that are gobbled up in a few minutes. If they do Denver or Phoenix I’ll be there. Would make Salt Lake, Cheyenne Laramie, etc.. work too. My reservation is with Granger in Iowa though so…

If they do, it will likely be somewhere in the western part of the state. Maybe theybwill do something with the Auto show cancelled

Ugh. f'ing reddit. Someone thought they'd get some up-votes in return for screwing the pooch for the rest of us.
Anyway, presumably Ford will be doing a bit more brand promotion (no use promoting a truck that's production-limited and sold out for a year and they're not taking orders) and hopefully they get the kind of demand needed to convince the bean counters to turn up production.

The bean counters aren't the production limit, the batteries are. There are only so many factories in the world and all of them are maxed out right now, mostly for EV. They are building new factories as fast as they can and Ford already accelerated their partnership with SK Innovations to get as many batteries as possible as fast as they can.

There's a HUGE free concert in Central park Aug 21. (Must be vaccinated). Earth wind and fire, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, The killers, LL cool J, etc. Google "NYC Homecoming concert". Free tickets but they are being released in waves.

Mayor de Blasio Unveils “We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert Produced by NYC, Clive Davis and Live N | City of New York

Gonna make trek down to the city from Albany..if it isn't canceled due to Delta.

I'm really bummed I didn't even get an invitation to the Charlotte one. I thought it was because I wasn't geographically close enough, but I'm only a 2-hour drive from the Speedway. And I'm a Day 1 reservation holder (within the first 2 hours after the live event started). And I'm a current F150 owner, so it's not like they don't know how to get ahold of me! :D
You and me both! I’m only an hour away, early reservation holder, etc. I did just buy a powerboost since my previous car was retired earlier than planned, so I’ll likely sit on my reservation a bit and see how things look after production, so I’ll assume Ford is trying to help me curb my enthusiasm by not inviting me!

No email invite for my South Florida reservation ... not sure where the closest stop was on the tour would have been nice to get the wife to see the truck and get her (more) on board for the purchase. Tour is full anyways. Living vicariously through you tube videos.

Not for me. There is no chance they will have a Lightening Pro at any of these events. Looking at a $90K F150 and ordering a $40K one makes it that much harder to live with.

I get it. But considering right now I have been only able to look at the ICE F150 and the MME for comparison, it would be helpful to look at any Lightning to get a better idea.

For what it is worth, I'm jealous you don't need the extended battery. I was planning on the Pro with extended battery when I made the reservation. I'm coming to terms I have to upgrade another $20k for an XLT with an extended battery in order to get an extended battery as a consumer. I sure wish Ford would change their mind on this decision.

I do get your point. If it was in my backyard and easy to go to, it probably be hard to resist the temptation to talk to people at the event that may know something (the salesman in my dealership was asking me what kind of Engine I plan to choose in my F150 after talking about my lightening reservation for 15 minutes). But it is not easy for me to go and I count on you guys to share.

I absolutely want as much range as I can get but I look at the package and my use holistically. No EV truck with current battery tech is good enough for travel towing. If I am not towing, I will travel with my wife’s ICE. Almost all other driving except occasional long distance travel will be covered with standard range lightening home charging for round trip. We keep our cars for a long time and our ICE will be around for another 10 years. Based on our current driving. I expect the ICE to get 3000 miles a year after lightening and everything else to be Electric driving.

Although I have a soft spot for GM, I don’t get into all or nothing ideas for any brand (all Fords are Junk , all Tesla’s are great kinda thinking). To me every brand has a sweet spot for specific use case. For my use case, lightening Pro is the sweet spot at $40K. If I want to spend $50K, I would get a Cybertruck dual motor. If I want to spend $70K, I would get R1S. I understand they are all entirely different vehicles but each of them have their own compromises and benefits for my use case. If I had to have maximum range, I would wait for CT3 but that could have more delays than Lightening. Overall, I think BEV trucks are at their infancy and spending too much on them at this time before the tech and infrastructure matures is not wise.

GM will be showing us all the Silverado EV in October. While it should be the Lightning’s most direct competition, I’m not expecting anything different on the pricing front. They’re not going to try and undercut Ford. We’ll see some different features at similar price points and trim levels. It’s already known to have the 4-wheel steering like the Hummer EV, we don’t know if that’s on all trims or an option at higher trim levels.

This is why I plan to lease. If after 3 years I decide I want to keep it then I can, of not I can trade up to the latest tech.
I'm curious what the lease rates are going to look like for early buyers as I feel like even at 3 years in the demand is going to be outpacing supply for the lightning so residual may be higher than expected. Residual should already be higher percentage than an ice f-150. Also if Ford's plan to move people to custom orders and reducing supply on dealer lots works out, vehicles should be selling for closer to MSRP which hopefully will help with resale values (which are already high)
