Anybody using the Ford Visa card? I had an idea that I would get the card and use it for all my truck related expenses. Seemed like a good idea.
Anyway, I applied directly from the link on my Ford account. Got rejected right away. Now, I'm not complaining because I don't otherwise need another credit card but how does a guy with a credit rating of 858 get rejected? Hell, the only debt I have is on the truck. And I borrowed that from Ford.
Oh well. C'est la vie. Just curious about others experience with it.

So it has nothing to do with Ford, the approval is done via First National Bank of Omaha. Do you have your credit bureaus locked up?

The card itself isn't as good as a good cashback card.

Don't have the credit bureaus locked up. It's really no big deal. Just caught me by surprise is all.

I've had one since I bought Sparky (2022 Lariat purchased 4/2023). I use it for pretty much all purchases related to my small business, get a decent amount of bonus points that way. Any service related to the truck comes out of that pool of points, although there is very little necessary! Saving up for tires, probably.

I have my Ford VISA linked to FordPass. Plug-n-Charge, including Tesla Superchargering gets paid with Ford VISA and the charge applies to the higher rewards points rate for Ford dealer purchases. I use my rewards points for XM Sirius and service purchases at the dealer.

I would recommend everyone locking their 3 credit bureaus, nowadays. Easy enough to unlock if you need to open a new account. Otherwise, it's like leaving your front door unlocked at night. 😱

Actually, it probably is a big deal. If you really have a good credit. you should contact the bank and get the reason for rejection. You should also check all 3 credit bureau reports to make sure there isn't something else going on.

FYI, Tim Bartz announced on his live-stream that the FordPass Visa card is ending and you'll no longer earn FP points on purchases after May 27th. Found this has also been posted on the Ford website:

https://www.ford.com/support/fordpass/fordpass-rewards/faqs?ref=visa-faq

New applications for the FordPass® Rewards Visa® Card are no longer being accepted. Any Points and/or Tier status earned from the FordPass Rewards Visa by current cardholders through May 27, 2025, will be retained. After May 27, 2025, FordPass Rewards Points and Tier Activities will no longer be awarded for the use of the FordPass Rewards Visa. Cardholders will receive communication from First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO®) with additional details.

My bet is the bank that issues the card dropped Ford. They buy points from Ford and hope it encourages people to use the card so they can collect transaction fees. They are competing with airline cards that give you free flights and cash back cards that give you money that can be used anywhere. Plus, Ford regularly discounts vehicles just to move them so the bank is in a situation where it's competing against airlines, other banks, dealerships, and Ford itself. Not a great value proposition, in my opinion.

Oh, it was a crappy card, I agree. And sure, they may have lost the bank but they could get a new bank.

They may still. I don't think there's a downside for Ford. For the bank and consumers though...🤣
