My barn load center is 100A. It is fed from my house 200A main load center through a 100A breaker. All installed by a certified electrician about 20 years ago. So, effectively, the barn is a sub-panel to my house. Can it deliver sustained 80A drawn from the house? I would think so, since it will be later at night.
Now, I had a Ford Connected Charger in the barn for my 2022 Lightning SR. Set to 48A through a 60A breaker in my barn’s panel. No issues, as it should be. I got rid of it six weeks ago thinking I’d never get another Lightning, and pocketed $500. BUT, the more I look at this, the more I think load sharing could be the best option. Really, if my son keeps topping off each night for a few hours, and I add afterward, we should be good in the summer. Winter, well, he’s on my service, so he will need to supplemental charge at a fast charger one day a week or so to kick back up to 80-90% because he won’t be able to replenish enough kW each night to cover his daily drive if I need to charge mine.
I’m looking at options. The Grizzl-E dual seems like junk with no real app control. The piggyback Teslas seem better. Are there other options? A switch might not work. We may need to adjust limits each night to accommodate out next days mileage.

I REALLY appreciate you all helping me! THANKS!

One question…. If my son and I are both preconditioning before work, will the one on a 40A circuit with a 32A EVSE still precondition WITHOUT taking juice from the battery? I’ve read it has to be on a 40A minimum.
It will work well.
Follow up to how the departure time / pre-conditioning energy draw looks via an Emporia Vue2 energy monitor. though I have a FCSP set with the capability to provide 80 amps of energy, my truck with an SOC [92%] above the charging set point of [90%] is only pulling the following levels averaging 4 to 5 kW at the moment, this will continue to tapper off.

The outside & garage temp is about 40 degrees, I set a departure time of 7:50 am, we will actually leave just after 8:00 am. The Truck decided based on conditions to prepare the truck & cabin beginning at 7:30 am, this will continue until 8am

Live shot at 7:50 am, energy continues to flow until 8:00 am, notice the modest amount needed to maintain temps, the Ford Pass Alert just came in to let me know the cabin is ready to go.
