If a competent licensed electrician is involved it should be properly installed, mine is!!
I’m not sure he was implying that they were improperly installed, just that many installations aren‘t able to take advantage of the full capacity.
The FCSP can be installed on a lesser circuit in a code-compliant manner.

No doubt there are cases of that nature, but I'd anticipate most improving the house/garage load center to accommodate the SR-48a or ER-80a version for the Lightning, even future proofing the work for vehicles that might benefit from 80a even if not owned currently. I understand the stand budget conscious user might opt for a lesser capacity setting, though funny after spending 50k to 100k for a BEV!!!

There are many instances where a home cannot accommodate a 100A circuit, but still can handle 60A. Suggesting that anyone who installs anything less than then full 80A EVSE (needs 100A breaker, at least a 125A sub or main panel) is cheap or foolish is actually showing your own lack of experience.

I'll plead guilty to being new to the EV world, but learning as I go.

My original plan was to be able to charge my ER from ~10% to 100% for the next race day trip towing my trailer, so having the maximum capability form my FCSP was paramount.

With that in mind, it was most cost effective to isolate my garage from the house 100A LC and bring a second distinct 200a service to the detached garage 60ft from the house. I'll put that new capacity to full use.

Obviously this isn't a concern for SR trucks that can't take more than 48 amps, as well SR trucks not using a substantial amount of charge in a daily drive & charge cycle.
