Just a heads up to everyone. This morning I received a Vehicle Access Request notification from "Cathy" in FordPass. Has anyone else received a similar vehicle access request?

I don't know who "Cathy" is, and my understanding was that vehicle access is invite-only, meaning I'm the one who has to invite someone so this is clearly fraudulent. My IOS FordPass version is v5.12.0. Be on a lookout, folks.

It is not invite only. Anyone can request access to your vehicle by typing in your VIN in FordPass.

Open FordPass.
Click on the vehicles at top right, to the left of the person.
Click on the + Add Vehicle.
Scan the VIN, QR code from a windows sticker, or enter a VIN manually.

Now, the owner has to say Yes.

Per the link above " If you would like access to a vehicle that already has at least one authorized user in FordPass, you must be invited via email for vehicle access permission."

So what you said should work, but only for vehicles that are not associated with any user. Or at least Ford seems to believe so, but yet here we are.

My son visited in Thanksgiving, drove our Mach-E. He added himself and I got a notice in FordPass AFTER he did so. He simply scanned the VIN through the windshield, and then approved it in the car. He also added himself as PaaK.

Don't believe everything you read on the internets.

I setup a second Ford Account online with a different e-mail to use for my Home Assistant. I then "Added a Vehicle" using my VIN. IIRC my main account got the notices you are describing.

Easy to confirm. Go online and create a second Ford Account with a different e-mail address. Add your VIN and see what happens.

I did it as a backup since I use automation. I also remember years ago members got locked out because a utility program was accessing their account a lot.

I *think* Valet Mode is the solution (or at least part of the solution) to that. I believe this locks out much of the touchscreen functionality. Can anyone confirm?
