My frunk appears to be dead (can open an close manually) but remote, button on dash, or on screen does nothing. No beeps, not noises, no nothing. When I load up FDRS the FHCM (front hatch control module) module is grey, and shows not responding. Tried pulling the battery terminals for 15min, no change. Tried, PMI but cannot PMI as the process cannot reach the module. Anyone have any ideas before I book a visit to the dealer?

Other checks / actions taken (updated)
- swapped 40amp fuses in frunk fuse box, swapped 15amp fuses in cabin fuse box.
- tried raising frunk manually, and holding funk button for 5 seconds (no beeps not nothing, I CAN hear a very very faint relay click)
- 12v battery has been charged
- checked FHCM module (passenger side footwell) cabling, and disconnected / reconnected.
- tried the half close method (open manually and lower to step one of latching (supposed to auto lock, once in this position)
- reset BCM, GWM mod A, and APIM with FRDS

Did you get any OTA's or do any mods/updates since it last worked?

Ah, if its a new truck, then likely something went askew while building it.

I have to ask - you didn't try to update the FHCM before this occurred did you?

I did not, there were not FHCM updates available. These were all of the updates originally available. The frunk was open the whole time as I had a charger connected to the 12V.

Try running a network test with the truck on. I don't see it reporting any codes for that module.

The only other thing I can think of is the GVMS hold you have for the GWM which means your GWM is not at the latest level and maybe causing a comms issue.

Edit: Never mind.....I misread the post. You do not have a GVMS hold for anything.

Took it to my dealer today, they confirm the FHCM (Front Hatch Control Module) needs to be replaced. Will bring the truck the back next Monday to swap it out. They think it shorted out. Will post an update here after its replaced (fingers crossed).

Maybe off topic but when you say you can close it manually... do you have to do something special to get it to latch?

My FHCM acted up once recently. It would not latch even when closed manually as hard as I felt comfortable with. I even disconnected the 12V and that didn't solve it (!) so I thought I was dead in the water. Maybe I didn't disconnect it for long enough. Had to haul out the laptop and reset the FHCM using Forscan. Since then it has worked normally. If I wasn't at home I might have been stuck.

I'm just wondering what I have to do to be prepared if the FHCM goes wonky on the road some time.
