I don't know anything about Apple and Car Play.

I do know that both Google Maps and ABRP are available for Apple users, but I only have Android so I am unqualified to answer.

Have to add that Level 2 home charging is essential for me.

My brother is the same way with battery tech saying that current energy density isn't sufficient for his needs and goes on about solid state batteries that are 'just around the corner'. That may be more or less true, but if you think about it, if prototypes/concepts on solid state batteries are just now being showcased, it will be another 3-5 years before they are even implemented in a large scale, and most likely on high end performance EVs. Once those start to gain traction, it would be another 5-8yrs before it trickles down to platforms like the F150. Please don't hold me to those timelines, they're just random numbers to prove a point that new battery tech probably won't hit the mass market for another good amount of time.

I pulled the trigger on the Lightning because
- Rides/handles like a crossover SUV
- Decent enough range, even in the winter (based on owner reviews)
- Able to haul when needed
- That frunk!
- Battery tech is fairly mature
- Public charging network is built out, Tesla access is a huge bonus

Like with any other tech, you can play the waiting game, but there's always something better that comes out next year. So the question is, how long do you hold out?

I was going to point out that, in my book, the ability to charge at home is absolutely required. (Read up on a few threads; the use case requiring an expensive 80A EVSE at home is rare. I can charge at 48A but I routinely just push 24A because it is more than enough. YMMV.)

Check with your power company. Our "EV/solar plan" with PG&E only costs us $0.11 per kWh from midnight to 3 pm.

Sounds like the Lightning would be perfect for you.

Mine has the standard range battery. The grocery is a 60 mile round trip with a 3000+ foot elevation change, and it is rare that I drive more than about 400 miles for a trip. The bigger battery would be nice, but it wouldn't make any practical difference to the way I use the truck. Simply could not be happier with this truck, it's totally awesome.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much I believe the sales guy. He did say they have let some some staff go because they aren't selling vehicles. He said they usually do 500 a month, now they are down to about 200. Again, it might be just a line.
I think once I test drive, take a closer look at the Lightning and get the electrical figured out, it will be done deal.
The more I think about it, the more I can't find any downside to it...other than the price! But a PB will be in the same range.

I came from a 2021 Ridgeline to a 2024 Lightning. The only thing I miss so far is the rear zone climate control. I used to set it to the coldest setting when my dogs were in the back, while still keeping the front zones closer to room temperature. The tradeoff is that the Lightning has a much roomier rear seat area for the dogs, and no weird plastic ridge thing in the back. Everything else about the Lightning is an upgrade.

I'm on iOS and trying to integrate Apple Maps and ABRP has been kind of a disaster. If you allow CarPlay to get SOC from the truck, it tries to navigate you to charging stations all the time, even if you don't want to, and it's never the station you want to stop at. I turned the SOC-sharing off.

Transferring ABRP routes to Apple Maps technically works. However, much like "first contact with the enemy," or getting "punched in the mouth," your ABRP plan doesn't survive your first stop to charge. You will inevitably leave with a bit more or less charge than you planned, and want to re-route the whole trip. I have not tried paying for ABRP to get their CarPlay app, which has terrible reviews.

The good news is that this only matters on long road trips because you have enough range to go anywhere you plan to in a day. And on long road trips, you don't have much better to do than plan where your next charging stop is.

No, I haven't driven one yet. I'm sure it will be fantastic. I did drive the PB a while back and that was really nice as well. Very smooth.

And yes, I can work with the shorter bed. My lumber is rarely over 10'.

Yes, I would NOT be holding my breath, unless your the techno type that has to always have the latest & greatest. I have the XLT SR, and I went from a 06 Taco 4x4 to the Lightning . . Lightning has been a dream.

Don’t worry about the bed unless you need to internally carry something of a certain length. Anything else get an extension.

I had 12' base board in my truck on Sunday. I put it through the rear window so it rested on top of the rear seat and the tailgate. With one end of the boards over the center console the other end barely went beyond the tailgate. A red flag was unnecessary. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a photo of this truck abuse. 😁

A Power Boost is closer in ride quality to a chuck wagon than a Lightning.🤣
