New owner of a 2023 Lightning Lariat and I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

The 2 cup holders in the front center console are awful! They take a severe amount of force to put in a Stanley (or Yeti) -style cup into them. For me, it usually causes a splash and a small spill.

Anyone else having issues with the cup holders?

I have a 2022 Lariat, and I have to agree the cupholders are tough to deal with. I guess the upside is that it holds the drink tightly so no chance of it spilling due to getting ejected when you go over a bump.

You definitely have to finesse them in for it to not splash. I do wish it was just a little less tight. "Spit on it" does not work in all scenarios. :sneaky:

Yeah the center console design with the shifter and the small cupholders just sucks. I'd like to see the PRND shift functionality moved to a stalk or integrated as buttons somewhere on the dash. Ford even has that button set in their parts library as they have used it on the Lincoln Navigator and a few others. No need to waste space with that big meaty looking shifter that is just a glorified switch. And the power-fold deal is just gimmicky. I like the work-surface fold out of the console lid so they did need to have the shifter move out of the way, but this was kinda silly.

would like to see two nice big and adaptable cup holders and a better phone charger/holder arrangement. And a small tray area for stuff... I really liked the center console in my 2016 F-350 with the 4 cup holders. I know we don't quite have the same interior space and we don't need 4 cupholders, but that console was very usable.

Dang, I thought this was gonna address the REAL cupholder issues.
my RTIC standard and giant cups fit great I. The holders next to the shifter. My issues are #1 the driver door side holders which are tight and/or have limited headroom. And #2 the cup holders on the back end of the center console are useless without an electronic dog involve fence. Our dog rides in the rear area and frequently pops his front up in the center console to see how things are going so we can’t use those cup holders with him with is. An “electronic deference option” would be a plus. 😎

My Yeti Ramblers fit pretty well. They were gifts so I use them.

My favorite is the Ozark tumbler that Walmart sells for around $9. That container fits perfectly

I've noticed, too, the 'hard to accept' LIGHTNING cup holder 'holders', which, yes, unfortunately, require so much 'force' that you can easily SPILL what you are putting in there to 'not spill'!
but...

my wife's new KIA EV9 has the exact OPPOSITE problem: apparently the other side of the world has 'bigger' cups ... her's lets cups rattle around and does NOT hold them very well, and annoyingly also creates 'chatter' quite often for empty bottles or cups...sad.

oh well... life is tough... deal with it.

I moved from an Expedition so I’ve had no issues with the cup holders, I actually like how they hold the cups snuggly but as with the one pedal driving gotta learn how to finesse it!!

I had a Subaru Ascent before the Expedition and that had the opposite problem, nothing holding the cups in the holder!
