For about 40 years, I ALWAYS used jackstands after I jack my vehicles up. It's just a major safety thing with me. This design ford has about only one jacking point is kinda stupid and very unsafe. This is a terrible design on ford's part.
Check out my photos, there are places to place the jack stands.

I'm no expert either, but that looks like a decent support part of the frame to me also. It looks a little tricky to access though, at least in the photos.

What are some of the other members opinions on this?

Thanks.

Was about to buy 4 of them, and then I saw the warning...

FREQUENTLY RETURNED ITEM

Evidently, it's not what it's cracked up to be. 😑
I’ve had this for nearly 5 years now, bought it specifically since my floor jacks weren’t able to lift high enough or reach the jack points on trucks. It’s not my primary jack, it’s terrible as one. It’s my least used jack. It’s heavy, bulky, and doesn’t fit under most, actually any of my other cars. Which is why I assume they’re being returned.

I know, I’m really selling it. For trucks, it’s generally good. For the Lightning, it’s a mixed bag

Pros: It’s tall, wide, and stable. Someone else mentioned a bottle jack instead, they’re not nearly as stable.

Cons: In its base form, it doesn’t lift high enough to get the rear wheel off the ground. The front is barely ok.

Luckily, this thing is extendable. I would say by about 10” in extra length. My wife says without a doubt it’s a 4” extension

Now before you run out and drop $400 on 4 of these. Unfortunately, extended it doesn’t fit under the truck. It’s just short of clearing the frame.

So what I do is I jack up the wheel using a wheel dolly. I then slide this jack/stand under in extended form and lift the rest of the way. I then roll the wheel dolly to the wheel location of my choice like a chump.

It works, and it was $50 when I bought mine. For $50 it’s a worthwhile tool. While I found a way to use mine, I wouldn’t recommend it. I can rotate 3 other cars in the amount of time it takes me to do the Lightning. It’s far too much of a hassle and IMO would just encourage someone to take a shortcut which defeats the purpose of trying to be safe with jack stands…

I also have this, bought it last year for $90 and then bought the rubber pad that goes on top for another $10.
