In the last year of Lightning ownership, I only supercharged it once... and that was for 5 mins to test out the Tesla adapter... okay, forgot, twice, the other time was to test out the local CCS at car dealer.

99% of the time I charge for free at all the places with free Lvl 2 charging or at home.

PlugShare app is great to identify those places. I also stay at hotels if need be, which has free charging.

Now that we have access to Tesla superchargers, don't sweat the charging at all.

For a 350 mile trip, I'd be more concerned about finding functioning chargers than the price. With an extended range battery, you should only have to charge once.

On a side note how about a thread listing free locations in the U.S.
I could add the 2 I use.

No thread is needed. Open PlugShare, pick the FREE box, and you have all of them.

If possible get a A2Z Typhoon Tesla to CCS adapter and use Tesla's reliable charging network. You don't want to start off with a bad experience.

I don’t know what route you are taking from California to Arizona, but if it involves interstate 10, beware that the Electrify America station at Quartzsite is the worst charging facility on Planet Earth. It is ALWAYS broken in some way - down-rated chargers, off-line chargers - hell, one time I was there and NONE of the chargers worked at all. And the line is frequently long. If you are using interstate 40, know that the EA stations at Needles and Kingman are only marginally better. It really helps to have a NACS to CCS adapter on the trip; the Tesla Supercharger station at Quartzsite is huge and superb, and the Supercharger stations at Needles are amazingly cheap.

Which cities? I've done Round Trips between Phoenix and San Diego a few times, and PHX and LA once. I can help guide you from personal experience. If we're close I might be willing to loan you my NACS adapter to make it even easier for you.
