How responsive is the Ford Pass app on Lightnings?

About to trade in our Model X and decided to try the Ford Pass app on my wife's daily driver 2023 Escape. The app sometimes takes 30+ seconds to lock and unlock, and the remote start just didn't work at all. Is the experience better on the Lightning?

Honestly surprised how slow to respond it was. Hoping it's better on the Lightning.

FordPass commands take anywhere from a second to 10 seconds, it depends on your reception and the trucks reception (AT&T). I've never had to wait 30+ seconds.

Remote Start works perfectly (with climate adjustments), as well as adjusting charging parameters.

I've even scheduled service at my local Ford through the app.

Move on from the Tesla SW experience now. If you compare it in any way you'll be disappointed. yes the Lightning is a great truck (I bash Ford a lot and the truck some), but if you are driven by tech and think you'll experience anything like Tesla, you're about to be really disappointed for a long time. That part of Ford and the truck absolutely suck comparatively.

Yikes. I'm definitely a tech guy, but I've been lowering my expectations on the software side of the Lightning. Which do you prefer to drive? Your Lightning or your MY?

Yea, if you look at it from the software experience perspective it will probably not meet your expectations.

However, on the flip side you will get Carplay and Android Auto which is what is on my screen 97.5% of the time and makes up for nearly all of the truck's native software failures including navigation, charge remaining at destination, finding chargers, radio/music, messaging, voice commands, etc.

The fact that I can start a Teams meeting from my dash instead of pulling out my phone is invaluable to me. I will never drive a car without CarPlay... sorry Tesla, Rivian, and GM.

Sounds about the same if not a little worse...

I was always a truck guy, but traded for an AWD Mode 3 in 2018. Loved that car. I had a smile every time I got in it for 4 years. Thought I'd give the lightning a try and ended up getting selected to order in the very first wave in 2022, so I jumped on it. Truly the truck drives like a dream. The space, the ride, I have to be honest, the drive is probably the best you'll get, very quiet cabin. The stereo sucks compared to Tesla, even the Bose 8 speakers. I went stupid and spent more money and replaced the amps and speakers in the truck. So I put myself even deeper in, but it made the truck more enjoyable to drive.

As for the Y, it drives great, it is a Performance, but it is my partners, I rarely drive it. When we go together we usually take the truck simply because I do most of the driving. I still love Tesla and the Y is fun to drive, but still not near as fun as the 3 was. That car was simply speed on rails, the drive and handling was incredible, the stereo was great and the tech made me smile every day as it improved and we got updates. I do still love that with the Y. Simply amazing being able to track, simplicity of planning a trip and changing, the sentry cameras, download video to your phone now on the fly, all of the updates are awesome.

So it's middle ground. I will say that if I had not spent so much on the truck and then spent more money on upgrading the stereo I would be back in a Model 3 P by now though.

I have embraced CarPlay simply because the Ford nav and apps are so pathetically slow, but I still don't like it. Tesla beat it in every way by having everything natively integrated into the system. There was absolutely no care for CarPlay. I applaud GM for dropping them and Android Auto. I'll take Tesla's integrations 98% of the time over CarPlay integration.

It used to be much faster. But lately this video has been close to my experience as well. Still love the truck though!

FordPass does things via cellular modem, unless the vehicle is within bluetooth range, and connected, in which case some functions are done that way. So, to say it takes 30 seconds to do a remote start via cellular I would say "that's not bad". But, with BT, it's much faster.

As a former Tesla owner, you'll be disappointed constantly in the Ford software experience. If you can't deal with that, don't buy.

I have had the truck (2024 XLT) literally a few days, I think I spent about 6 hours going through all the features, settings, options, and setting up Ford Pass etc - it works nearly instantly, lock/unlock, start pre-condition does it all. Maybe just my location.
I call the truck "The-Tablet-on-Tires" !
Super quiet, great sound system, and love driving it so much I find myself looking for reasons to go somewhere just to be in it! Great Truck, I think it does what a truck needs to do, with style and class.

I’ve noticed this and it does not seem to use wifi. I think my house is in an area of somewhat poor cell reception and commands frequently take a long time. This shouldn’t be the case when both the truck and phone are on the same network.

Never said it used WiFi. Cellular. Bluetooth.
