Hello folks,

A few months ago I did the DIY ACC mod (adaptive cruise plus lane centering) on my Pro. It works perfectly and it has been an amazing upgrade.

Hypothetically, if I were to sell the truck privately, what would be the best strategy to address this mod? Do I feature it as value-added? Or would I be better off removing the mod and restoring the as-built FORscan values?

On a similar note, do these types of mods affect the vehicle warranty? Is it prudent to restore as-built values if the truck ever needs to go in for service?

I don’t see where you should have an issue with Warranty work. However, you may have a liability issue on resale if someone is injured in accident involving its use.

I’m not an attorney, just saying.

I think it’s a value-add to whoever gets the truck next. The only things that void your warranty are being declared a total loss or evidence of odometer fraud. Beyond that, warranty won’t cover problems that are caused by neglect or aftermarket accessories.

Adding factory ACC is neither of those. Ford may not cover warranty claims under the factory new vehicle warranty if the installed sensors malfunction, but they’d be covered under the Motorcraft part warranty. Nothing that’s not affected by the install would be affected, though.

I don’t think there’s any chance of a liability issue. The OP activated a feature that Ford built into the software.

1) Ford can see that mods were made by FORScan when you bring it in for service, if they look.

2) Unless your modification impacts something that is covered under warranty, there won't be a warranty issue.

3) When I sell my vehicles, I make the buyer sign a paper that says there is no warranty, stated or implied.

Depends on who's buying really.

Some car buyers want bone stock and don't want to buy a modded vehicle. Others may prefer the added mods.
Also, was it someone uneducated just butchering things or was it done by a shop that specializes in mods.

Just be honest, you added the feature after purchase and leave it at that. If they ask who added it, tell them the truth. At least they can make a choice and can't comeback complaining after the fact.

Unless you sell it to another member of f150lightning.com, whoever buys your truck will not care one way or another that it has ACC or doesn't and will have no clue it was added after purchase. They might care what color it is.

The problem I foresee is rare, but could happen. When replacing a module, it is usually flashed with the as-built config. If that module was updated with FORScan, then it won't have the needed configuration to make something work correctly, if at all.

I would personally disclose the information that you added those ACC, and include the FORScan parameters that you changed and/or provide a backup copy of the current config.
