Anyone have any experience with this? Service Vehicle light came on in the car and the dealer said they had to order one of these. Just wondering what it is and if its common

Here is a pictorial diagram for a Mach-E, our system is similar.

The diverter routes glycol loop for HVB warming phase.

There have been a couple/few reports of the valve failing.

We needed one of those in our 2023 ER lightning. The part was backordered for over 2 months. Hope you don't experience the same.

Yes, the cooling system is a...complex conglomeration of tubes, valves and compressor(s). So many possibilities for something to fail.

The max towing package adds a second compressor to the loops.

I just had the same failure this week, hope we are not starting a trend. Truck is in the shop now and it’s going to take a week to fix. The failure notification in the app was

“Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power

What Is Happening?

Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault.

What Should I Do?
A Powertrain or All Wheel Drive (AWD)/Four Wheel Drive (4WD) fault has been detected, contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.”


They also found my shock absorbers were leaking so they are being replaced as well. (Didn’t specify how many or location)

My truck has a pretty sedate easy life with only 22k miles and in the dry 350 days of the year. Shocks failure is a bit 😲.

Update on above with conclusion.

I got the truck back after 8 days at the dealer.

The fault was High Voltage Battery Radiator Coolant Diverter Valve which needed to be replaced. I have attached all the wording in the image.

After the fix the couldn't get the truck to start so they needed to replace the 12v battery as well.

Unrelated was the replacement of one shock absorber on the front right as it was leaking (I thought you should always replace in pairs but they only did one).

Everything was fixed under warranty so no cost but the price on the work sheet is $10,966.38. The truck has only done 22k miles.

Finally they wanted me to get a wheel alignment which I posted about in the Hankook Tire thread. I declined as I don't need a wheel alignment. The uneven wear is a known Hankook AT2 tire issue.

I also got a software update to 10.1.1 which is quite something as I rarely get software updates. Still no Walk away locking or BC1.4 but at least something is dribbling through.

Pilfered from the Mach-e forum, this is actually their thermal management loop, we assume our Lightnings follow in the same concept, I haven't come across a pictorial for our truck yet.
