I am very happy as well but would really like an EV convertible next. If not I might settle for a Taycan.
Yeah where is my EV Mustang Convertible? Still waiting... and occasionally looking at Audi E-Tron GTs. Has anyone ever had one of those? I do love my Lightning, but here in the city having something smaller would be nice.

I am curious of this group of Lightning evangelists, how many of you went with the 9.6kw pro pack? I am looking at a Flash lease and am trying to decide whether this is a feature I would use. Our house literally never looses power (lucky) so I don't envision ever having a need to use it for V2L.
We went with the 9.6kW Pro Power and have used it twice so far for powering essentials when the power was off. We could maybe have made do without it, but I expect more and longer power outages in the future. Also, I've been put on alert from friends with EVs that they're calling me if they run out of juice, so having the 30A, 240V outlet for V2V charge exchange is another bonus.

I test drove a regular Etron and wasn’t sold on it… maybe the GT is much better but at that price, a Taycan is worth considering. Surely the folks at Porsche can figure out that there is a market for an electric Cayman/Boxster.

The Taycan and E-Tron GT are built on the same platform for whatever that's worth; I just think the GT looks better (more like a muscle car). The price tag on both makes me wince, but then look at what I spent on my Lightning.... so maybe 😀

I don’t know about you other Lightning owners, but I am concerned that after owning and experiencing the F-150 Lightning, twice, I will never be happy with an ICE vehicle, or ANY other F-150 or other truck… again.

The smooth ride, quiet ride, asinine acceleration, one-pedal, regenerative braking, the FRUNK, no real interval maintenance before 100k, reduced brake wear, excellent weight distribution and balance, winter handling and traction, excellent headlights, quick cab warming in the winter, and did I say FRUNK?

Yes, I have a few gripes, mostly related to over-the-air updates and FordPass, but out of the box, both Lightnings have been better quality but 200% over ANY of the four ICE F-150’s I’ve owned in the last six years. Plus, the Lightning is relatively simple. Two electric motors and a battery.

Anyone else feel the same way?
I do agree with you 100%. I hope Ford never stops making the F150 electric truck. I’m sold.

Regarding letting the wife driving the Lightning. After owning mine for several months, my wife's car was in the shop so I let her take the truck to work that day. Later on, when I got home, I asked her how she liked driving the truck. Her three words response was, "I want one!!"

Ford is still losing $100k/Lightning - so that's an issue.
Here's the Staggering Amount of Money Ford Loses on Each EV It Makes

I drive large SUV's like Cadillac - Lexus - Infiniti - they're similar in ride quality.
Those numbers are complete BS.
The F150 Lightning EV does not cost $100k more to make than an ICE F150.

They may be speaking "amortized" costs including building the factories, tooling, ramp up, training, etc. But those things will eventually be recouped.

The article also fails to mention that Ford is one of the EV makers actually seeing growth.
Ford F150 Lightning Sales:
  • 2022: 15,617 units sold
  • 2023: 24,165 units sold
  • 2024: 33,510 units sold
  • 2021: 27,140 Mach-Es were sold in the United States
  • 2022: 39,458 Mach-Es were sold in the United States
  • 2023: 40,771 Mach-Es were sold in the United States
  • 2024: 51,745 Mach-Es were sold in the United States

In 2024, Ford sold 12,610 E-Transit vans in the United States, which was a 64% increase from the previous year

never going back to ICE again either. I have been on the bandwagon for many years. Have owned Lightning, Model Y, Model S and Rivian R1S. Have driven Mach-E, Ionic 5, EV 6, Mercedes EQS, Silverado EV, and several more. The lightning is far better than the Cheaprolet Silverado EV. It handles far better and has far better materials. The AC vent control literally fell off in my hand during my test drive of the silverado. Everything about it felt cheap and lumbering. Was extremely happy to keep my Lightning.

Not to get into a debate about Elon, but the Tesla's just work. Their software updates consistently with flawless charging and driving. I have had great experience with service as well. My lighting software is always behind, never know what is happening and the dealer experience is terrible.

But, never going back, planning to drive my lightning until it dies.
Going to Flash from MME Performance (which I loved) has been amazing! An unexpected joy has actually been the sound system. Audiophile level improvement (glass ceiling delete?) I'm hearing details I only get with my Cinema 40 system at home. Amazing.

I haven’t done any critical listening in my new Flash, but you are the first person I’ve read to praise the sound system.

A good demo is
listen for the drum internal decay and overall crispness. These speakers stand up. The cloth ceiling is a major factor. Sliders default

I certainly will consider only EVs moving forward. I may have to replace my significant others vehicle soon but she does not want another F150 nor a Mach E, so we may be looking at some of the newer models coming out from Scout, Cadillac, Jeep, etc. Hopefully the experience will be as good overall as it has been with the 2023 F150 Lightning Platinum.
