I feel as I know some of you here pretty well. Maybe some will remember how I said my wife was the bigger fan of pickups in the family, and I am a big fan of pickups. Here's my morning.

Got my Lightning late from the dealership yesterday. Awoke this morning happily prepared to do the settings routine: Door code, wake word, wiper, you know all the stuff to customize.

I open the front door and my Lightning is gone. OMG at first, then noticed no one at home. Seems that my wife and daughter went out for a 'joy ride.' I could not be any more happy. Once home, they had the biggest smiles and a faint giggle to their voices. I guess they had a good time.

I mean, they are dense… we’re having the rear light bar replaced for I guess a TSB, or recall, but ours is not malfunctioning, and they wanted us to drop it off while they waited for the part. My S/O who bought the lightning and her family have been with Ford and the same dealership for 50+ years. They do seem to get some special service. I think with dealerships you have be worth it to them. That’s the problem with the middle man.

So is the credit based on $69,995 or $79, 845? I thought it was on the base price before add ons but I was corrected in another post.
Dealer added options are not the same as factory added options.

In this example the qualifying value is in yellow which includes FACTORY options

As a 4x owner of Teslas, and an ex-owner of a Rivian, and a 2x owner of the Lighting..your dealer must be TERRIBLE.

The good thing about dealers is you can always find another one.

My Lightning 1 from Dealer 1 (7 miles from me) had no surprise. They even rushed prep on my request so I could take it on a road trip.

My Lightning 2 from Dealer 2 was done all via email. They then delivered it to my driveway 125 miles away/ea way! - no surprises. 15 minutes of paperwork on my porch and we were done.

Neither had any surprise fees, charges and were at my agreed price, no markups.

Beyond sales, I called Dealer 1 for recall work. It’s going in next week (2 week lead time) the dealer is picking it up from my house, dropping off a loaner, and will drop off the truck when it’s done.

In comparison, my Tesla is going in for recall work - also next week (1.5 month lead time) and I had to argue with them as they wanted to charge me for the recall - had to threaten complaints to the NHTSA for them to “waive” it for goodwill. Despite screenshotting NHTSAs website with my vin and recall notice. I have to drop it off an hour away from me, take a rideshare on my own dime back and then back to the SC to pick up the car when they’re done.

For me..I’ll take the dealer.
I love my dealer, but I'd have to go 70 mi to find another. I think a lot of rural truck owners are in this position.

I am a first-time Ford owner thanks to the Lightening. I live in a state with laws that are a product of dealership lobbying and are so strict that Tesla has to locate on native locales. I hate the restraint of trade under the guise of "consumer protection". I expected my experience with a Ford dealership to be one sales job after another.

Boy was I wrong. In spades. I've gotten to know the Gen'l Manager and a lot of folks on the Service side of my dealership. They are just great. They go to bat for me and are very responsive.. I'm very grateful for the relationship I have with the dealership where I bought this truck.

I still have two other Toyotas for long distance towing and gnarly short wheelbase off road stuff. But I'm already drooling about the opportunity to buy a next gen Lightning in 3-4 yrs😉.

I hope dealers of this nature continue to develop in time, welcome to the Ford family !!
