It doesn't keep thousands of miles of data, it uses hundreds of miles.with only 3 months worth of driving the GOM doesn't have much data to work with. Now that I have 15k miles worth of data I find the GOM to be quite accurate. case in point, the other morning I woke up to 30 degrees and the GOM (85% on an ER) showed 213 miles. two days later with 85% and 70 degrees it shows 260. only difference was temperature. But I never noticed that behavior the first winter I had the truck... it constantly learns.
2 years ago the algorithm was different, Ford has tweaked it more than once.
