Hello from a New F-150 Lightning Owner in Florida!
Hey everyone! Excited to join the community! My name is Dustin, and I recently got a 2024 Ford Lightning Platinum. After researching EVs for a while, I finally made the switch, and I’m loving it so far.

I’m in Florida and own a home inspection business , so I’m always on the road and looking for ways to integrate the truck into my workflow. One of the biggest reasons I chose the Lightning was the Pro Power Onboard feature—I’m currently exploring how to use it as a backup power source for my home in case of outages.

Some things I’m currently working on:
Setting up a transfer switch to power my house with the truck
Learning the best charging setups for road trips
Finding great accessories to make the truck even better

I’d love to hear any tips from experienced owners—especially about power management, must-have accessories, and charging strategies. Looking forward to learning from you all!

Welcome!

You will want a NACS to CCS adapter for road trips. This will let you plug into a Tesla plug into the truck. If you don't get the Ford NACS to CCS adapter for level 3 charging. These brands are reputable. Lectron and A2Z.

For level 2 charging overnight from a Tesla Destination charger. You will want a NACS to J1772 adapter. The wiring is different than the level 3 adapter.

Just bought this ‘23 Platinum with 27k miles.

I knew it had wide MTs on it, but on later inspection it also has a front leveling kit and wheel spacers. I plan on replacing the MTs and taking off the spacers. Thinking I will take off the lift to. I don’t like the extra angle on the axles.

I am new here. Just got my 2024 Platinum last week. First electric but technically my second lightning. I’ve had a Ford truck in my garage since 1994.

Jumping in with both feet. Doing a short road trip starting tomorrow morning through rural OH and WV.

My previous trucks:

• 1994 Ford Ranger, 4.0, extended cab (first new vehicle)
• 1997 F250 XLT, 460, extended cab, 4x4 (new - lemoned)
• 1999 F250, XLT, V10, extended cab, 4x4 (new)
• 2002 F250, XLT, 7.3 PSD, 6spd manual, extended cab, 4x4 (new… miss this one)
• 1994 F150 SVT Lightning, 5.7, regular cab (used)

• 2008, F250, King Ranch, 6.4 PSD, crew cab, 4x4 (new, gorgeous truck)

New member here as well. I've been lurking for a little while and finally pulled the trigger on a 2022 Platinum with 27k miles. I actually don't have the truck yet... in transit from Cali. I'm in Louisiana.
My previous truck was a F150 power stroke diesel for 6 years. Awesome gas mileage! I do real estate on the side so very functional for hauling material and whatnot. It will be missed! But I'm excited about the lightning.
There is a lot of good info on that forum as well which allows me to get up to speed. This will be my first fully electric vehicle but I had previously rented EVs at several occasions so not totally a newbie.
I guess my first project will be to figure out the charging at home part since this truck doesn't come with the charging station pro, only the mobile charger. So either installing a 240v outlet or buying and installing the station pro or both ...
Anyways just introducing myself. Will post pictures as soon as the truck gets here.

I'm on my first week with a '24 Lightning. I'll be using it heavily in my jobs as a builder and musician, looking forward to putting it through its paces.

We've been running a Nissan LEAF since 2016, very familiar with electric travel but really happy to finally have more range to work with.

Hey everyone! Just figured I'd do an official introduction. I have watched this site for a while and it led me to pull the trigger on the lightning over the Rivian. I'm VERY glad I did too! I've had my '24 Lightning Lariat ER for a couple weeks and it is a nice machine. I did have an error code within a couple days and it was in the shop for a couple of weeks, but all-in-all I still love driving it and I still think it's an awesome truck.

We're also owners of a Tesla MY, so a few adapters and we can charge the truck just like we do our car. We are also very familiar with the EV pros/cons and I like not having to pay for $2.70 gas in middle Tennessee traffic. Lol

Anyways super happy to be here and I'm glad this resource exists to find answers to things.

Congrats! That is exactly me. I chose the lightning over the rivian R1T. I needed the nice size bed for my multiple side business activities. Still waiting on the truck though... the bad weather has delayed the shipping company. Hopefully should be there next week .
