Has anyone had this happen?
Today I went to the garage started the truck and went to lunch. Before I left the garage the truck warned me that the key was not found. I've gotten this message before and just ignore it.

When we get to the restaurant I let wife and MIL out, and put the truck in Park, while it is still running. Once they are out and I try to put it back in Drive. I get some message that he key is not found and have to entire my passcode to shift out of Park.

When we left the truck wouldn't unlock by touching the handle until I restarted the app on my phone, I use PAAK.

Is the issue that between when I started the truck at the house, and I guess before leaving, the app crashed, which caused the issue with not being able to shift to Drive?

I've had that happen periodically. I just open the app again (without even bothering to close it first) and it detects the PAAK again. I don't think the app is crashing per se, it just seems to drop PAAK.

I have an iPhone btw.

I've seen this alert once or twice, I don't trust PaaK, so I always carry my key fob, using the Paak for yard moves only.

I use PaaK exclusively. While I've not experienced what you are describing I've found that pretty much all PaaK issues can be resolved with a phone reset.

Does your wife's phone have PaaK? Maybe the truck was responding to her phone because your's glitched for whatever reason.

This happens to me at least once a week. I just push the OK button and ignore it. The truck just isn’t sensing the phone for any number of reasons, like 1. After you started the truck you got out to do something with the phone still in your pocket 2. Your phone battery is really low which seems to diminish Bluetooth strength 3. There’s something nearby interfering with the signal (for me it’s been an AirTag I have on my wallet). I’m sure there’s others reasons too.

I've experienced this. I don't think this is what @marlin1060 is describing though. Based on his description, the truck didn't detect his key at all.

Not detecting the key is the normal state in my wife's Navigator. She quit using PaaK months ago because it never detected her key. Although, it got a new battery recently and I've noticed my PaaK working so maybe it's better now.🤷

I use PAAK only in my Mach-E, but if I’m driving somewhere, put the car in park, open the driver’s door, I’ll get “Key not found” almost every time. I just ignore it.

I keep a programmed key fob in a Faraday bag locked in my console safe in case PaaK or password start fails. it’s nice to have 3 different ways to start and drive the truck

With our Teslas I also have 3 ways to start and drvevthe car.
1- PaaK
2- Credit card Tesla key in my wallet
3- Remote start from anywhere using the APP as long as car is in cellular range

I don’t miss the old days where you needed a cut Hard Key as the only way to drive the car.

Can you drive a Tesla after remote start but without PaaK or a credit card?
Yes, The procedure is
11- Unlock the car with the APP
2- Select Start on the App
3- It allows anyone to then get in the car and drive it as long as you get in and drive it within 2 minutes. If not it times out.

It will continue to keep the car alive and allow it to be driven until the driver exits the car, then it shuts down.

I have a elderly lady close friend who's phone failed to unlock her Tesla. I also am on her account. She called me panicked that she was locked out of the car after taking a walk at a City Park. I remotely unlocked her car from 300 miles away using my Tesla App. Then I "started" her car with my App. She got in and drove it home. She now carries her Credit Card Key with her. After she power cycled her Android phone the PaaK worked again.

In an Emergency Tesla Support can also do this remotely if you call them and you answer their security questions.

EDIT: You can see the time out at the bottom of my Tesla APP now. After I activated the Start is shows 1:46 left until it times out.

I had this happen once while sitting in the car rider drop off line at my daughter's elementary school. I put the truck in park and got out to give my son something (he's in a car seat) and jumped back in the truck and tried to put it in drive again and the gear shift level would not go out of park as "No Key Detected". I finally power cycled the truck in a moment of panic to not be the guy that holds up the line (with a bunch of angry parents) and that was the only thing that fixed it I tried closing the app but that didn't work. I have since started carrying my key on longer trips just in case.

I get these events occasionally. You don't need to restart your phone, but rather cycle Bluetooth on/off, or shut app and reopen app. There was a time it was flawless, but an update or two later and now it's hit or miss all the time

I have to say, the PAAK has been more frustrating here over the past few weeks. I’ve seen the No Key message a lot more here lately as well as the fail to UnLock on touch.

I would hope Ford sees the issues and makes improvements shortly (that’s sometime within my lifetime in Ford time.)
