My Buyback was approved!
The RAV team will contact you with offers. I believe Nevada has simmilar “usage charges” based on miles on odometer at first time you contacted them. Floe example Florida uses 120,000 miles as a base. If you reported first issue at 12,000 miles the usage charges will be 12,000/120,000 =10% of purchase price.

The value if usage charges are deducted after adding up full purchase price, sales taxes, fees etc.

Be aware that Usage fees are negotiable. When they send you the offer letter verbaly counter. They will easily reduce the usage charges by at least 50%.

Good luck and congrats.

I did not think the truck would’ve depreciated so much. I was wrong. I just don’t want to find out if I am wrong again :).

My idea was to keep it for 10-12 years. Again, I just do not want to find out if it will make it etc.

But then again, with my luck, in 3 months gas prices go to 6$ 🤣

Dude, you have poor financial literacy. If you're expecting to keep a car 10+ years, then depreciation does not matter at all. Most of the depreciation is done in the first 3 years of a vehicles life. Holy smokes, this is why finance should be taught at an early age. You poor soul.

Anyone in this thread who bought early and paid full price is at risk of horrible depreciation. Just think about what would happen if your truck was totaled. Insurance will not help. (Yes, I’m aware insurance does have specific coverage for this but typically only lasts a year, never three years)

I bought in early, planned to keep the truck for 8+ years but life didn’t work out that way. The depreciation on these trucks is a real problem and the experience has me hesitant to buy back in again.

So you should be able to buy a used Lightning armed with actual depreciation value.

if I were looking to buy the best value would be a lightly used 2023 Lariat loaded with max tow etc.

I bought my 23 Loaded lariat after major Ford price decrease in July of 2022. My truck was re.invoiced by Ford about $8k less than original sticker price whe it was built.

I sold the 23 Lariat to the dealer and leased a 24 Pkatinum about a month ago. They put it on their lot and listed the 23 for $55.9k plus $1k dealer fee. It was sold on a week. That’s about $6k less than I paid from it factoring in incentives and tax credits when I purchased it new 1-1/2 years earlier.

The 24 Platinum “sale price” on the lease agreement after rebates, incentives and ECO was about $5k more than paid for my 23 Lariat when new.

Of course there are fees and taxes involved but I ended up with a 1 year newer truck, upgraded trim level and fresh warranty.

Are you buying a new Lightning or moving onward to another BEV truck or back to an ICE truck?
No decision yet. Waiting for my offers. I love this truck. But it has to be the most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever seen. Everyday someone posts at least 1 massive problem with their truck. This is not normal. People with other EVs are not having module replacements at 20k miles at the rate these Lightning’s are. Every ev forum or Facebook page I’m on has no problems posted except Lightning. Not to mention this horrendous software update situation. They’re making us hack our cars instead of pushing updates to everyone at once. So yeah. Most likely going to Rivian or Silverado ev. Wait for the next version of Lightning. Let Ford work it out. But from what I’ve been reading. Looks like they could abandon it because of how much they’re losing. People may not like it. But overall this project was a failure for Ford.

You do understand that online forums and boards generally are where people go to complain and get information about problems, they aren't flocking online to rave about things. Its a skewed view.

I'm on the Rivian, Tesla, Bolt, Leaf, and a few other forums cause I'm looking for my next vehicle. The Lightning is far and away the most complained about of all of the above.

Just drive a new F150 for a couple weeks and you will probably fall in love with the lightning again after it is worked on. I was contemplating selling but now that it is right I like driving it way too much to part with it prematurely…..
Best of luck with whatever you replace it with and let us know your impressions of the next vehicle in a year or more….

You are seeing what you want to see. I have been a member of dozens upon dozens of automotive forums for well over 20 years. The conversations about issues here are no more or less than any of those were. And I can guarentee Tesla, Rivian, etc are not better than Toyota, etc.

Yeah every Lightning owner says this. I own a few EVs. F150 pages are the only ones where this is happening.

100% it’s weird how many Lightning owners don’t see this. I’ve never even thought about a buyback. This truck has buybacks happening everywhere. It’s literally something I didn’t think happens. While owners here are just saying “everything is fine” just another post of a person with a malfunction. Totally normal. just a bunch of whiners complaining about 40k worth of battery module replacements. On a new truck

This is my problem. Best vehicle I’ve owned. But totally unreliable. Too many things glitching and breaking. I’ll wind up with another one though most likely. If I can find one

As a former Leaf owner and current Tesla and Lightning owner I disagree with your observation about complaints.

1000’s of Leaf owners have had and are are having their cars bought back because of severe battery degradation. Rarely do they make it to EV warranty expiration date without battery degradation of more than 30%. I was in a buyback negotiation with Nissan due to multiple issues and prior to an offer it was totaled.

Do a search for Leaf Rapidgate. Battery gets overheated when fast charging.

My Teslas have been reliable but the Tesla service process is horrible. You can’t talk to a human at all. Plus their service centers are few and far apart. I have only one Tesla service center within 100 miles from home. There are 42 Ford dealers within 100 miles of my home.

The local Nissan dealer only has one EV tech, Robert, and I’m on a first name bases with him due to multiple issues.

Talk about fiasco, Bolt battery fires that caused recall for ALL BOLTS from 2017-2022. Plus drive a Bolt. After driving a Lightning you will hate the way the Bolt drives. It’s a tin can.

Definitely lots about the early Leaf - although it seem that was taken care of in the current version with active cooling system (? not sure, but was told this recently by owner of one)

We should remember there is a lot going on with the developments of the technology in these vehicles, batteries, charging networks- as we buy and use them, new developments with continue to improve on the platform.

I for one am super happy with my new Lighning, and am excited to see new battery technology and features develop in the years to come. If I run this truck for ten years, I can't even imagine what the next ones' capabilities will be...excited to see!
