So I've had my 22' Ford Lariat Lightening for almost a month now. I love it more each day. With that being said I've got my first service drop off this Monday the 12th . I wanted to ask the group here if there are any known issues on these trucks I should be checking for to mention before leaving with them. The following is what the truck is going in for:
-Condensation across the entire rear lightbar (inside)
-Frunk lights (both) have condensation and sitting water inside them

both these items are covered under warranty of course but... a few other things that I plan to mention would be:
-extremely loud A/C run noise that can be heard from 30yds away and sounds like an airplane engine starting while standing next to the truck... is this normal? Coolant level is sitting at the minimum line so that shouldn't be an issue....
-Truck updates aren't happening. I've had 2 or 3 successful auto updates but now it's been stuck on this last one that still seems to be MANY updates from where it should be (currently I'm on Ford Power-Up 3.5.5)

What else can you fellow consumers suggest I check or have them check as known problems or future problems? Currently sitting around 4500mi on the truck

The fan noise is normal. Upon startup, the truck will often kick into high speed cooling, especially if the A/C is on, and then dramatically quiet within minutes.

You should mention that you're stuck on updates. When they service it, they should connect to FDRS and see the status of the vehicle. They MAY then do some/all of the updates, depending on the dealership and what the system tells them.

Bought my 2022 Platinum as a Mannequin (dealer demo) about two months ago. Make sure it has Telematics tuned off and you can schedule updates (search website for Process).
OTA updates are way behind on mine and it does not have the updated user interface yet. Currently at the dealer with a case number assigned by Ford. Good luck getting it updated…. my other 2022 Lightning (Lariat ER) I ordered and was built about 30 days after the Platinum is great and has the new user interface so I know it is possible.

I can't figure out why getting a mannequin off the FCTP and allowing it to get updates is so frickin' hard for these people!

Seriously, WTAF?

It clearly is a mystery to many. When I was buying mine, the dealer had no clue. I insisted they do all updates in FDRS until none remained. I can tell you that only by them getting a Ford Field Service Engineer involved did it happen. And, the tech didn't hookup the 12v power supply right, which was only known because several Mach-E forum members (and you) looked at it in FDRS. And I had a picture from the salesperson showing it hooked up wrong...

Mine worked great until I got about 2 hours towards home, and the navigation died. I didn't get a dealer appointment here until 6/5, which turned into 6/8 due to the tech being out sick. The APIM needs to be replaced, which the BEV team is prioritizing. Hopefully, after that gets done mid-week, I'll finally have navigation, be able to set a home charging location, use handsfree driving, and listen to satellite radio until my trial expires.

I've had two nav failures where the APIMs had to get replaced. The first was on my '18 Raptor, and the second was on the MME I have now. The thing about the MME event was it happened at the same time my car downloaded the infamous PowerUp 1.7 around October of '21. They finally got around to replacing it the following February when APIMs became available. It was right after that I got interested in just why exactly I didn't have BlueCruise since the files were on the server for download. So I got the Mongoose and dug in after reading up on how to do it on the ICE F-150 site.

BTW you want to avoid that DSP update that's showing as available right now (all F-150s). I did it and wish I hadn't. That update was called out in a TSB as the fix for loud booms and crackle from the sound system. Which I actually hadn't experienced by that point 🤦‍♂️ but did the update anyway.....which to this day still remains on my available software list and won't clear...and now whenever I open any door after returning from shopping, etc. I get a small pop out of the speakers, just once. I never had that happen before the update (sound system is completely off). And I wish I could roll it back to what I had before, cause this DSP update was not fully baked when they threw it out there.

When you say "stuck", is it you just not getting updates or updates are failing? If it's the latter, have them check LVB, and if necessary replace it.

Are you getting “Air dam failure” message? I need to take my lariat for it.
Not yet. I've heard this is common. But I'm in Florida so no cold weather that I've heard others mention this.

Well prior to this update I had 1 successful no issues, the next one failed while going through update multiple times until it was charging one night and it went through. Now this one just fails when trying to auto update. So it detects an update then nothing happens when it goes to get the update.

I did the BMS reset yesterday and now it says I'm uptodate which I know is wrong

You may have already heard , but the taillight condensation is now a recall issue. The new version of the light bar is not available so your dealership should wait and do it under the recall. The current stock of replacement parts are thought to also be defective.

Good Luck!
