Is that mustart issue only with the normal charger, or with the one that has all the different dongles?A
Lot of them were the plug, but I saw a few that burned out inside the unit.

I don't know which one you're referring to, but I've seen pictures of two different models that failed prematurely. Is that mustart issue only with the normal charger, or with the one that has all the different dongles?
I've been watching your videos for a while too, and I trust what you say. Do you have a recommendation for a l1/l2 charger that also allows for different plug types aside from just the nema 14-50? It seems like Tesla is the way to go from what most everyone is saying (with the only downside being that it isn't a variable charge) edit: I might have misunderstood the variable charge issue, is it a Ford issue or the mobile charger?I don't know which one you're referring to, but I've seen pictures of two different models that failed prematurely.
Honestly, I've been reviewing EV charging equipment for over a decade now and Mustart is a low-cost, low-quality garbage brand. They lie (cleverly) about safety certification and have terrible customer service. Buyer beware.
Unlike Tesla, the charge rate is not settable in a Ford vehicle. Thus the desire for many to have an EVSE that can be dialed back.I've been watching your videos for a while too, and I trust what you say. Hmmm. Yeah, I'd like one that I could have the options on honestly. Like right now I have access to a regular wall outlet and I have a nema 6-20 plug. Once my power company installs my new wall mounted charger I'll have access to a nema 10-30 (I think?), But I'd also like the ability to connect to 14-50 and other common chargers. I'd also like to charge as slowly as possible for my situation too...Unlike Tesla, the charge rate is not settable in a Ford vehicle. Thus the desire for many to have an EVSE that can be dialed back.
I have the Grizzl-E charger connected to a 30 amp NEMA 14-30 plug - it has worked for over two years with no issues- it has internal settings to limit the current to 24 amps. It will also work on higher currents but the cover has to be removed for setting the limit.Since I canceled my new Truck order, I also lost my Portable Charger. But I am buying a demo and will certainly need a portable.
The Ford Parts store does locate the part number I found (J98-10F868-AE) and does not show it in an generic "charger search".
I do see several Ford Mobiles on EBAY.
I'm in need of recommendations suggestions.
Is the Ford charger a recommendation usage and price wise?
Do you recommend others that work well and are better values that I should consider?
I'm at least 10 days from Truck arrival and I have one Charge Pro I purchased a few months ago (for a really good price) and I will be getting another with the Truck I am buying. I wanted 2 because I have a house garage and a detached garage so can charge no matter where it is parked.
All thoughts and comments are welcome.
So this is my reality too, do you happen to have links to what you purchased? Also what do you plug in to what? Splitvolt to 10-30, then? Or does the extension cord go straight from the wall to the charger to the truck? And do you use the mobile charger at all in these situations?I have the Grizzl-E charger connected to a 30 amp NEMA 14-30 plug - it has worked for over two years with no issues- it has internal settings to limit the current to 24 amps. For travel I use the SplitVolt 24 amp charger with a NEMA 10-30 plug (old style dryer plug) and then a NEMA 14-30 to 10-30 adapter. Also a 50 foot 30 amp cord and this allows me to reach most ground level dryer plugs at relatives or rental houses. It is much more likely that you will find a 30 amp, 240V outlet when traveling instead of the NEMA 14-50 that the Ford mobile charger connects to.
A 30amp circuit requires a max charging rate of 24amps. Dryer circuits are usually 30amps. The Ford Mobile Charger cannot be restricted, so that's why a 24amp EVSE is needed. Also, a short term rental doesn't charge for electricity. The 32A limit on the Ford portable charger seemed to me to be enough of a limitation to getting recharged quickly....why would you want to set your charge rate to something like 24A or less? I don't get it. I'm sure there's a good reason for all those who are doing it, but I just don't understand what it is.
