The update files are fully download from the internet to the APIM or GWM before starting the update process - the update files are not live streamed from the internet to the modules. That would be way too risky for corruption. Same as on your iPhone and most tech devices - the files download fully and some prep work is done to the files (unzip/move files, etc). Then the update is done in a way it can be rolled back if it fails halfway through. It may have to do with your wireless coverage.
My window update was very quick.
Yeah, I was so excited to see an update and then realized it for the windows...smh...lolI just got the window update, maybe I'll get BC soon…
Going on two weeks since the 1.4 download failed on my truck. The error stayed on the update screen until yesterday when it was replaced with a notice that the window update had downloaded. I hit the button to update it, turned the truck off and locked it. Came out in the morning and it had installed fine. I’ll post again if 1.4 shows up.
My 1.4 update failed on 3/29. No update attempts againfrom ford until 4/9 when they sent the window update. Then yesterday, two weeks after the first time they tried to send 1.4, it showed up again. This time, the download succeeded and it installed overnight with no issues.I know the answer is probably "it varies", but does anyone know how long it usually takes for Ford to re-try an update? Haven't seen anything since 1.4 failed on my truck the first time.
To install BC 1.4, I would think the OTA needs to update the modules AND do the AsBuilt configuration to enable all BC 1.4 features. I.e., the same steps as someone doing it with FDRS and FORScan. Makes sense those values were written over.Well, I compared the before and after values in the IPMA and PSCM and found one change for 706-02-02 which appears to have re-enabled the annoying curve control after I disabled it previously. Guess I'll see if it behaves any differently before disabling again but not going to hold my breath.
