Yes, words have meanings. And the common term, worldwide, is that a 'charger' is the thing you plug your device into to replenish it. Phone charger, laptop charger, car charger.
Phone charger, yes. Laptop charger, yes. Car cord = "EVSE".

If we really want to, I can attach the picture of the Ford documentation for my truck that says it has "2 chargers". ...if I can find that pic again.

"Worldwide" is a very wide-scope and fuzzy word and I'm not sure if it meaningfully applies here.

Let’s not be that guy. It is perfectly acceptable to call it a charger generically. Cause let’s be real, with out that controller and cable, my trucks onboard charger is a paperweight 🤷‍♂️😎

I never expect to win an argument with a man who drove a tank.

I personally choose to use "charging spigot" instead of "EVSE" because I find the mental image it evokes is more accurate and easily understood by my family and friends.
If I referred to it as a "charging spigot" to anyone I know, I'd get a puzzled look  and then, depending on their age, they'd either come back with "What the hell's a spigot?" or "Oh, you mean the charger?"

English is a flexible tool. To resolve the nomenclature debate, I propose calling the device that plugs into the car a “bung” and the receptacle on the car a “bunghole”.

I'll support Tom and nominate these new colloquial names for:

- the power cord as "the Juice",

- the truck as "the Burping Baby" and

- the wall box as "the Juicebox". ...oh dang that last one is already taken 🤣🤣🤣🤣
