No wi-fi for wireless CarPlay. At least on my phone.

This has been happening to me too. Wireless carplay on my f-150 has been like that since I picked it up in July and its very inconsistent. I have no idea what makes it happen. My solutions is either to go into the settings in the truck and disable carplay and then re-enable it or if I am already driving before I notice I hold down the volume down and seek right button and it resets the radio and usually the music automatically kicks back on. sometimes I will go three days where it does it at least once a day and then 2 weeks where it works without issue.

CarPlay starts with a Bluetooth handshake, but then connects over WiFi. Bluetooth doesn’t support the bandwidth to display a video stream like that to the truck.

Test wired CarPlay. On my rental ‘24 this week I had the issue and could not resolve it. I doubt that rental has all the updates. On my 24 that I own, it is fully updated and I don’t have the issue.

I figured out a way to rapidly get the AirPlay to work. Go to the Spotify app on your phone and click on the green carplay icon on the lower left and select Ford Sync and it starts playing on the native Sync app in the media center

I switched to iPhone from Android back in September and this issue has been plaguing me. Half the time I get no audio and have to reboot sync. Sometimes if I initiate a call from Carplay I have no audio and have to pull my phone out and cycle it to speaker to hear.
For all that I love about this truck, these issues drive me nuts. I had issues with Android Auto and had to try things to fix that and it mostly worked. Now that I'm using carplay it feels like I'm at square one with the audio dropping out. Even worse is searching shows this has been an issue with sync for years now on Ford vehicles.

I’ve had this happen a couple times too. My 2017 Chevrolet Volt used to do this too for some reason. I never figured it out. However, all the solutions that I have read here have worked for me. I wish Ford would squash this bug for good.
