Watching this I can say I'm happy with my Lightning. Plus I'm driving it today. This is realistically still more than a year out for normal people. I'll wait until NACS switch over before picking up another EV. Which who knows, by the time these hit the streets, could even have NACS in the consumer versions.

Lol at 50k. Have you priced a pro? My sticker is 65k
This is a 70k+ truck
I have priced a pro, I have one being built that sticker price is $66k. My order price is $53k.
I can't say what price they will actually be when built, just that Chevy has said that the base will now be $50k instead of the $40k previously announced. They haven't given any details of specs for that price but I'm assuming it's going to be a smaller battery. I'm sure it will be like Ford and very few will get built at that price before it goes up steeply.

However, the flip side of this is that it seems that demand, at least for the lightning at $80k+ is starting to wain. Ford announced that for the rest of this year they will be producing more XLT trim (which is what Ford is intending to be the base trim for retail) than previously planned. We are also seeing used prices falling some and high trim trucks sitting on dealer lots. It's entirely possible that Ford will need to lower pricing to be able to keep up the production level that they are targeting.

Eight lug wheels. Anybody know what the chevy weighs? I only watched untill he opened the tailgate. He is just too wordy for me, but thats just me.
Edit to say after posting my question answered.
It weighs over 8000lbs.

Pretty much every auto publication posted videos today so there's plenty of other presenters out there. Places also have written articles.

450 miles of range out of a sub $80k truck is pretty impressive. It’ll definitely force Ford to start offering better specs for the money in the T3/second gen lightnings

Thanks. Saw the eight lug wheels and thought it heavy.

He said it is modular design, so I wonder how hard it will be to fix one of those many modules? The only plus I see will be the towing distance between stops, but a one ton battery!!
Lots of negatives too, so it is too soon to know how it will go. It seems direct competition to the CT, but looks better....

I haven't decided how I feel about the looks. I definitely prefer the f-150 styling over the ice Silverados. The Silverado EV definitely doesn't look as good as the lightning, to me, but exterior styling is low on my list compared to price and tech specs.

The Chevy WT must weigh 8,599 pounds empty or more that any Lightning with a maximum payload on board.

I am very curious if they WT will actually get 2.4 miles per KWh. If it does then somehow GM is getting much better battery, charging and motor efficiencies hauling around up to 9,999 pounds.

I guess if you only build one WT with no options and only white for the paint color, the manufacturing costs go down considerably. Will be interesting to see how long that $78,000 MSRP (Plus shipping) will last before GM decides they need to make money on each truck.

Edit, I finally got to the end of Kyle's review where he showed the trip info on the truck and over 683 miles (maybe since new?) the truck had been averaging 1.7 miles per KWh. Certainly we don't know how the truck had been driven over that distance (towing, hauling, highway, etc.). But 1.7 miles per KWh falls right in line with a 75+ mph cruise in the Lightning. And 1.7 drops the full charge range to somewhere around 360 miles (which is still over double my SR XLT). Also interesting that GM only recommends a maximum "normal" charge of 80% instead of the Lightning's 90%.

1.5 Ton. In one of the articles they list the battery weight as over 2,900 lbs.

One trick that GM has done with their battery, that Ford could possibly do as well. GM is running a 400 volt motor and control system, just as Ford, but when DC charging, they link the battery modules using relays such that it appears to the charger as a 800 volt system. When the DC charger can produce that much power, it reduces charging time and resistance/heat in the system. Reducing charging time will always be a plus, regardless how many chargers are added along the highway.

The GMC Sierra EV has the exact same features while managing not to look like an Avalanche or 1st-gen Honda Ridgeline.

$78k is for the 4wt trim. They haven't announced prices for the 1wt and 2wt yet but they did say the base is now $50k not 40.
This all makes me doubt that the RST First Edition and the Sierra EV Edition 1 are going to be sold for $105K-107K.

There has to be a ceiling MSRP for what's supposedly a main-stream EV truck.

It will be interesting to see if GM can actually produce the Silverado in volume as they seem incapable of doing so with the Hummer. Everything about this Silverado, including the price, screams re-badged Hummer.

In about 2.5 months, I have driven my Lightning over 7k miles. Range is fine for me and charging speed, while slower than my Taycan, is fine. When I am local, I only charge the thing every week and a half or so.

I own my Lightning Lariat ER outright. I am not planning on switching anytime soon. I am a Ford truck person -- my first F series was an F100 with 3 on the tree. Sure, there may be "Silverado" people out there, but I am not one of them. Like any pickup, I am looking to get a decade out of it before I buy another truck. Given my age, that new truck in the next decade will be the er uh, "final" new truck for me. Ah, mortality.

Chevy did announce supercharger access and they'll eventually switch to that port on the vehicles instead of ccs1
