If you have current software on the truck, you can set Pro Power to run when the truck is off; thus, it's not cumbersome.
This is an AS BUILT feature of model year 2024 Lightnings, the rest of us wait for an OTA that back loads this and many other enhancements you're enjoying.

I just checked, and my truck's SYNC 4 Software Version is 23151_PRODUCT Revision 902. I'm not sure how this compares to the newest version. If I had to guess, this version seems quite outdated, as my truck has struggled with automatic updates since the beginning.

Moreover, my dealer doesn’t seem knowledgeable enough to update it either. The navigation feature is missing from the menu, even though the FordPass app indicates an active subscription until April 2026. The dealership suggested waiting for the next over-the-air update to see if it resolves the issue, which isn’t the solution I was expecting.

My 23 Lariat has Sync version 24127 And Revision 1270.

Believe it is one of the more recent versions out.

Thanks, @mrau! Your version definitely looks more up-to-date. I'm getting "No updates available at this time for your vehicle."

When you checked, the heating element wasn’t powered. 400W would be approximately the power requirement of the motor.
This makes sense. When I’m feeling curious, I’ll bust it out again and see if I can catch the peak power draw on the app. Thanks for pointing this out. A bit obvious in hindsight.

Here in Virginia we use a new technology called a clothesline, and sunlight. I know you guys don't get any sunlight, so this is the next best option.
Some people use the sunlight to charge a battery to power their dryer in a power outage. Glad to see you’ve cut out the middleman.

BTW @Lorincz , you can check your recent update history/notes for your truck at the link below. Likely won't help getting an update any faster, but will give you an idea where you are at.

My last software update (10.1.1) arrived 11/15/2024.

Thanks for the reminder, just got an update after waiting nearly 3 months..... there's still more that's needed but it'll only come when the MoCo decides it's time for my truck to get them, we need the patience of Job owning these trucks.

When first starting the dryer, the heating element should definitely be energized.

I'm absolutely sure your service advisor did in fact suggest that. That way they don't have to do anything and can blame Ford. The current revision of Sync is now 1270.

Or a computer, a Mongoose, a powersupply, a 2 day subscription to FDRS, and a pot of coffee...oh, and a box of donuts.

It says:

"It’s been more than 90 days since your vehicle was updated.

Make sure automatic updates are enabled and you’ve set a schedule to get the latest version when it’s available."

It seems like Ford is blaming me for not having the newest software, even though I invested my time to visit the dealership and asked them to update it. In return, they just sent me home, saying the next update would arrive soon.

I really enjoy driving my truck—it’s an awesome vehicle—but the whole ecosystem around it (dealers, the software itself) doesn’t give me the experience I’d want when buying my next one.

Ford prohibits dealers from doing software updates unless it is in response to an actual malfunction or problem. You can ask them all you want and you'll get the same answer.
They don’t prohibit them from doing updates, they just won’t pay them to do it under warranty.

In Northern Virginia, the clothes tend to get dirty again from the air pollution though...not so much on Montserrat, unless the volcano is spewing ash our way. Of course the only clothes you need there are a trunks and a towel most of the time...
