I might just be willing to set the funds aside and “self-warranty “ once I’m out of the warranty coverage.
This is key. All the savings from home charging and oil changes needs to be accounted for when the time comes to either replace a module, or sell the 100k/8yr old truck to a skeptical buyer.

Well, I think I finally figured out why I've been having random electrical issues with my truck. Last night, I got the dreaded Powertrain Malfunction Wrench of Death—reduced power mode kicked in, limiting me to about 57%. Fingers crossed I can limp it to the dealership. Literally just picked it up from getting the rear window replaced with a melted defroster connector, and the fault came up when I pulled into the garage.

I pulled out the OBD-II reader and got the following codes:
  • POB24-21 – Hybrid/EV Battery "A" Voltage Unstable
  • POE15-00 – Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Heater "A" Control Performance
My assumption is that I’ve got a failed battery pack somewhere in the unit, which might explain some other weird electrical gremlins I’ve been dealing with:
  • My 12V battery randomly failed about three weeks ago.
  • My rear window defroster connector melted and caused the glass to shatter.
  • Other random electrical glitches have been popping up.
I'm thinking these issues are all connected. If the HV battery has been throwing out unstable voltage, it could be messing with the 12V system via the DC-DC converter, leading to erratic electrical performance and failures.

Now it’s off to the dealership to see what they find. Hopefully, the parts are more readily available now because I really don’t want this to turn into a long-term nightmare. I’ll update once I get a diagnosis.

Agreed. That is the plan because everyday it clears out until it happens again. It seems to only happen if I try to use my worktop and stow the shifter.
Dropped off at dealership yesterday. Should know more Tuesday per the dealership. No loaner available and I have yet to receive the promised pro charger. I have had the truck for 3 weeks now. Luckily, I install EVSE units so I have a couple, but I have capacity for the pro charger and would like to have it.

Good luck with the truck, that sucks.

As far as your statement "I have capacity for the pro charger", you may already know this but just in case:
1) Even though your home may have capacity for the 80-amp charger (on a 100-amp circuit), the Ford install deal with QMerit is for only a 60-amp circuit (48-amp max charge rate). That's because...

2) You don't mention your model year, but a 2024 Lightning* can only max charge at 48 amps so you’ll never be able to use the extra ampacity, at least with the Lightning.

You can probably pay the difference if you want the full 80-amp charge capability installed but it's wasted on the 2024 Lightning. If you bought a 2023, then you might consider it.

* Fleet Pro trims have a dual-charger 80A option like the 22-23 ER's have.

Yes sir, I am aware that the onboard AC inverter is only up to 48 A. I have a 2024. I have already installed my 60A circuit. I just need the pro charger. If they don’t send it, I have other 48A chargers that I can use. I would just think that because it’s promised that I would get it. No need for QMerit. I use to install for them.

Got the Powertrain System Fault message on my 24 Flash on my way to work this morning. Power was limited to 71% but then within a few minutes went back to 100% (my commute is only ~5km), however the wrench light remained on. Contacted the dealership, told them the issue/message and they said I could continue to drive it until a service appointment I already have scheduled for Feb 25 related to a modem connection issue, and they’d have a look at the fault issue then if it’s still present. Temperature this morning was -30C before windchill so service advisor said that could potentially be the cause, but after reading this thread I feel there might be more at play. I had also preconditioned the battery this morning so the battery pack was at a normal temp when I left my house. Thoughts? Am I really okay to continue driving for another 2 weeks before getting it looked at? Going to check 12V battery connections tonight as others have suggested.

Update: Just started the vehicle after letting it sit in the parking lot unplugged for 2 hrs and the wrench is gone. I see there is talk on the forum of an OTA software update 10.3 for the Powertrain that states “We have updated your vehicle's software to prevent an unnecessary service warning that may display on your instrument panel.”. Hopefully that was my issue and gets corrected with the update. Going to keep the dealership appt so they can run diagnostics and confirm no other issues.

One of my first updates made that warning flash for me, never came back. I'm inclined to think yours is fine and the combo of cold and update made it twitch. The primary cue seems to be power availability dropping to 57%. If you can charge, you should be ok. Can always plug in an OBD adapter and check the voltage variation for an additional warm fuzzy feeling.

Thanks, that’s good to hear. I haven’t actually been able to get the update yet as it sounds like it’s still in Early Access, so my most recent was 10.1.1. I’ll try charging at lunch and provide any updates if the warning returns as well as info my dealer provides.
