Just got the wrench icon and the powertrain malfunction on my 2023 lariat, with 10.5k miles. Taking it in tomorrow morning. Yesterday when I drove it, it was reduced to 62% power, then today it is now 57% power.

A key difference in the issues can be charging. What happens when you try to charge? Red ring? What happens if you disconnect the 12v for a few minutes? Back to normal?

I'm a month into a repair that they can't figure out and have replaced a few components with no luck but are now considering replacing a coolant pump as part of a trial and error process. Do you happen to know how they diagnosed the problem as the pump? Looking for any info I can share with them to speed up my repair. Thanks!

Haha, 10.5k miles, sorry fixed that. That would be terrible with only 10 miles
Awesome, so ....... as a new member joining to report failures, do a FAV and introduce yourself in the I love my lightning threads to balance the negative karama with some positives.

Oh, then the wrench light at 14 months makes perfect sense.

Got “Service Vehicle Soon” message on dash, along with Powertrain Malfunction Reduced Power message in FordPass, along with 57% power.

Just dropped it off at dealer, based on symptoms it seems like likely a battery module?

2023 ER XLT, Sept 2023 Build Date, 11000 miles, owned <1 year, mostly charge to 80% on Level 2, except for a short road trip where I charged once to 100% and DCFC twice.

Fingers crossed for fast resolution

So I dropped mine off at the dealer yesterday, and they said there was nothing wrong, but it just needed to be updated. They only had it about 5 hours. So they said they updated everything. So far its been fine.

Update - needs a new battery module #3. No ETA on the part yet.

Had the powertrain malfunction error right away on day 1 after taking delivery of my 2024 Flash. Then it didn't come back for a few weeks. It came back and now consistently every day. No other issues, just the message and the wrench lighting up on the display.
So I brought it in, they checked and the service advisor calls me today saying they couldn't find any errors. She then proceeds to tell me I would have to pay a diagnostics fee. Took an escalation to the service manager who immediately said he wouldn't charge me.
Picked up the car and the paperwork states: "found code U0111-PCM for lost communication with BCM" and "The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition".
On the drive home the error came back :cool:

Look for a more competent dealer service if one is within reach.

Update on mine.

Part came in after ~3 weeks. I took my truck back to the dealer, and it was a 2 day turn-around for a replacement of battery module 9. Got it back tonight, and hopefully the wrench of doom will stay away.

I think Ford should at minimum be doing something like throwing in free Bluecruise for a few years in compensation. Battery failures where a cell is too high or low are generally due to cell's internal resistance being out of spec, and over time that cell's voltage drifts away from the rest of the pack. Put another way, it's a manufacturing failure on whomever made the pack's part.

Anyone know who I complain to about it?

Just got my 10k mile check up this morning at 10,450 miles. Everything was fine, according to the dealer. This afternoon, orange wrench of death for the powertrain/loss of power.

I have an OBD scanner plugged in at all times. Scanned it multiple times and no errors appear.

I have a road trip tomorrow. Should I cancel and go into the dealer?
