Relocate DC charge unlock button

Musing about relocating the block button to prevent theft of my adapters.
My cheap tesla destination adapter has a lock but the DC fast adapters don’t.
Has anyone done this or thought about it ?

If it’s a simple switch (which I suspect it is), you could remove the wires, splice on to them, a put an equivalent switch anywhere. I don’t think I’d try to move the existing switch.

It only locks DCfc when in use, if someone wants to steal your adapter they can just stop the charge and pull it out.
A locking charge connector is good in theory but the locks just get broken, you can rip a Tesla plug out even if it's locked.

I think a better idea would be:
- Have a stop charger session / unlock DCFC connector on the UI
- Have a configurable setting to define what can stop charge sessions and unlock the charge connector - physical button in charge area; UI main screen; Ford Pass - at least 1 method must be selected and all 3 methods can be selected

Additional feature - Is locking an Level J-1772 connector possible (same logic as above can apply)?

Guess I just wonder if we should be concerned for our adapters with Tesla opening to more OEMs.

might be easier to modify my adapters similar to to this one:

that at least locks it onto the cable.

People have come up with a 3D printed bit to help with this. Of course it won't stop someone determined (or with the right tool) but should slow down casual thieves.

Have I missed something along the way? I haven’t seen anything about adapters being a target for thieves.
