Can anyone help with why I got this notice?

This morning I got a FordPass message (that I deleted before capturing it) It stated something like
Service Required - Excessive LV battery drain. Possible 3rd party accessory causing the drain. Plug in now or battery may get too low to start the truck. ???
About the same time then I got this Ford Pass notification below “Plug in Maintain 12v Battery“

Heres the status when I got these messages
It had completed Charge to 85% on the HV Battery at 1 am
i had a OBD2 bluetooth device plugged in.
i was in our cabin with my phone about 30 feet from the truck, likely within Bluetooth range

After getting the message this morning
I unplugged the trunk from the Wall Connector .
I got into the truck and started it fine. I got a center display pop up Service Required- Excessive 12v battery drain which I cleared by hitting OK on steering wheel.
Car scanner app showed the 12v battery charged to about 40%.
After starting and with the truck idling car scanner showed 12v battery charge level increasing eventually to 80% when I shut it down.

Some background. I routinely leave the OBD2 device plugged in for days with no issues in the past. But that was at home where my phone was out of bluetooth range.

My thinking is that the Bluetooth OBD2 was constantly communicating with my iPhone causing the 12v battery drain. BUT if the truck was plugged in shouldn't that maintain the 12v battery? .

I agree with your assessment. Unplug the OBD for a couple days and see if the message returns.

If carscanner was running it's one thing, then it'll keep polling and as such it'll wake up modules that otherwise would be asleep and this will in turn cause the lvb to drain.

If carscanner wasn't running (or any other app accessing the obd) then there shouldn't really be an issue.

The only app that uses the obd is car scanner. Thanks for that explanation.

At our cabin last night I believe that Car Scanner was running and my iPhone was within Bluetooth range. So that would explain it. I just checked and the 12v battery is at 85%. The obd has been disconnected since the last time it was driven, 7 hours ago . So it appears that there is no drain.

Where I park at home the truck isn't within bluetooth range so no polling.

On our Nissan Leafs the obd was never ever removed but where the car was parked, the car and phone were way out of Bluetooth range
